Why I NEVER Suggest DDR3 or faster DDR2

Post by MrBlah » Mon Apr 14, 2008 6:29 am

Read this article and you will get a big insight as to why faster RAM is never more economical. The price per performance gap is pretty large. So, to all you building computers and whatnot, you see why i Never suggest DDR2 -1066, its just not worth it.

To sum it all up, >50% more $$$ for <8% performance best case scenario, usually 1-4%.

Yeah DDR2-800 has seemed to work well for me for quite a while now :) Just get some with a lower CAS latency.

Good info; glad I listened to you when I built mine as the RAM was not that much at all, overall :)

Getting great framerates, too.

Man, I checked on the old computer (kids are using it, now), and my rates were 20-60 :O

I didn't really notice until I left the new one to watch them play on the old one.. WHen I was using it, I guess I got used to the laggy framerate.
