Post by Clay Pigeon » Wed Jun 04, 2008 12:55 pm

I installed some new RAM I got from newegg (2 x 2048 DDR2 800 5-5-5-18 (replaces my 2x 1024 DDR2 800 4-4-4-12).

I need to know if I can get my ram back up to 4-4-4-12 timing. My old ram was supposed to run at 2.1 volts, this runs at 1.9. I tried overvolting it, but I cannot figure out which ram timings I am supposed to change in the bios, because there are a lot more than 4 of them. I played around with it a bit and only succeeding in learning how to use the bios reset switch on my dfi lanparty UT nf590 SLI m2r/g...

Any help would be appreciated.

Also I end up OCing it to about 880MHz when I up my Hyper Transport to 216 from 200. I don't know if that is an issue or not, as my old 4-4-4-12 used to be fine at that speed.

i found them. Do i need to mess with drive strength?

edit set it to 4-4-4-12, there are still a bunch of other settings that don't make sense, but it boots with voltage set at 2.00 when at 870MHz.

ps: thanks for the help.

Apparently this ram doesnt like having its timings tightened if you OC it...

I guess 5-5-5-15 is the best I can do at 880. Still 4 gigs for 85 bucks + shipping aint bad.

ok Clay, you should see something like this:

CAS Latency Control (Tcl) - 4
RAS# to CAS# delay (Trcd) - 04 Bus Clocks
Min RAS# active time (Tras) - 012 Bus Clocks
Row precharge time (Trp) - 04 Bus Clocks

set those to those settings and leave everything else as it is.
