9000 series cards

Post by YevGenie » Mon Apr 14, 2008 10:08 pm

I am currently running a 7600GT on my desktop at home. Would a 9600GT give any noticeable improvements, or should I go for a 8800GTS since the 2nd number is larger? :)

an 8800 GT or GTS 512 is more expensive and will give better performance than the 9600, but the 9600 will still give a noticable difference.

Yea, im shooting for not paying a lot. I am just toying with the idea right now, don't even know if my computer can handle a dx10 card (also, can i play dx9 format games on a dx10 card? I'd imagine so, but not sure).

p.s. Blah, do you like troll the tech forums waiting for people to post? :) hell of a response time hehe

lol i just got off dod:s, its was coincidence :D

And yes you can play dx9 on a dx10 card.... otherwise you couldnt use 8000 series GPUs on XP. If i was you, ill get a 9600GT since your not gunna play alot on it.

Yea, I mean, I play like TF2 and BioShock calibre games, might get Hellgate:London at one point maybe and the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R game coming out this year. I don't know if my other hardware is compatible with that card and with dx10 though, I'll have to figure it out.
(installing it is pretty much plug and play right?)

Hell, just get a Radeon 9800 Hundred. It's got a better first AND second number. And those things are what, 50 bucks. Maaan is Nvidia ever behind the times.
