lol, nice Hendrixer! I always wondered about brewing at home! I love micro-brews, I feel they put more time and "love" into their beers, and that makes them taste better.

Also, I forgot to mention this earlier, but a German Restaurant around Des Moines called Hessen Haus, serves a beer called Spaten Optimator. Delicious beer!

Fairly potent though, but amazing! 2 pints of that and you're good to go!
well shot i was in san antonio like 5 weeks ago and really could have used a beer when i was there. but o well. where were you a brew master at?
Hey Jim,

I ran Brewey Restaurants and Micro-Breweries.
Started my career at Devil Mountain in Benicia, Ca. Trianed with two metors who moved on to Sierra Nevada and Samual Adams respectivly.
Then on to Black Diamond Brewery in Walnut Creek, Ca for 4 years.
Then built Schooner's Grille & Brewery with owner/friend in Antioch, Ca for 3 years.
My wife is in the Air Force so we got transfred to San Antonio.
I briefly brewed at Blue Star here in San Antonio.
Then went up to Austin and became second Brewer at Live Oak for a while.
Recently became a Realtor. Still brew professional quality beers at home and always will.
Hope you get back to San Antonio sometime, we'll have a beer or two, and that invitation is open to all the Villun's if you are of cousre at least 21 :D

YevGenie,

Homebrewing is a great hobbie! Try it out!
Brewing professionaly is a lot of hard work though.
Spaten Optimator I believe is a Doppel Bock, around 8-9 % abv.
I once brewed a Barley Wine style ale that was 13.4% and aged it in Bourbon barrels! And yes it was good, but strong!

I don't like beer. At all. I'm more of a "fruity girly drinks with hard alcohol" kind of person. But I just thought up what I thought was a fairly witty line and needed to share.

My favourite beer is |3eeron.

That is all.

Hey Buzzy Beetle,

I bet I could find you a beer you would like.
A Belgian Lambic fermented with raspberries or cherries that has that taste of Champagne. Doesn't even taste like beer. Incredible! :o

When enjoyed in moderation, responsibly, drinkin beers with my buddies is one of life's fine little rewards. First off, I shall state, so you know where Im coming from, All Beer Is Good. Some are better than others, and some are more appropriate than others. So it becomes a question of timing and atmosphere...

I do have a few favorites that I will drink on any occasions.

- Yellowtail Pale Ale
http://www.ballastpoint.com/beer_selection.htm

A local San Diego Brewery. To me, it tastes clean and crisp, lots of flavor

- Harvest Hefeweizen from BJ's Brewhouse

http://www.bjsbrewhouse.com/list.aspx
Nice n cold with a lemon wheel :)

In a setting like a football game, out at the desert or river, or wedding etc.. I'll go with Bud Light, coors light tastes like perrier.

Ill happily drink any beer to be honest :D

Guiness is not beer :yuk:

I hate to admit this, cuz I know you guys love the crap. But I dont like it. I'll drink a couple Irish Car Bombs, but that's it. Honestly I've had so many really good beers over the years I couldn't name em all.

...just make it a cold one will ya?

This is, of course, correct.

A good Dunkel Weiss and Theakstons Old Peculier would be my top two if you pushed me to pick :)

Cheers

I like good German beer. Most American beers are just too watery for me. I know Budweizer is the most popular beer in many countries including China. Who would have though that huh? But for me German lager is the thing. Try: Becks, Heineken, and St. Pauli Girl. The English Bass Ale is very good. And if you ever get a chance try the Japanese Kirin Iciban. There are many others, but those are the ones I don't ever get bored of.

Reading this forum has reminded me of how many beers I have yet to try. Thanks guys and bottoms up.

I bought some Fat Tire last night. Very good. I knew it might not go over well, so I got just plain old MGD for Mrs. SU.

I almost picked up Killian's, but the Fat Tire was calling out to me for some reason.

Plus, six pack, so I won't have to wait forever to get another one and try something new! That 12 of Steinlager seemed to last forever, even with Mrs. SU helping out.
