The best way, to me, seems like it's to stay near the cabinet, but not actually receiving health from it. Only inch over toward the cabinet when you're about to reload - that way you're not getting healed every 2-3 rockets, you're getting healed every 4, and you still don't have to reload.

Here's a mildly off-topic question....

For those that play a lot of Medic, do you find that sometimes you lose your healing stream for no good reason? Sometimes I lose mine even in the most mild situations - like standing still charging a Soldier at a locker. Does that happen to everybody sometimes, or should Santa bring me a new mouse for Festivus?

Hmmm interesting, I didn't realize you can stand in the right spot next to the locker to get ammo but no health... that's the way to go!

@TYO - The heal beam always locks on pretty good for me. Ask Santa for a new mouse, a wired laser one :)

Well, not exactly. I don't think there's a position where you can auto-reload and not get health. But you don't need to be auto-reloading until you've fired all 4, right? So why not just stand far enough away that you're not reloading until just when you need to reload, then step a bit closer and then back?

i think it's faster if the soldier stands by the locker AND stays below 100% health.

if the soldier misfires or something, and you buff him to 110% or something, then his next rocket will barely hurt him and you get little healing time by the time he hits the locker.

i try and blast my way away from the locker, but run up to it so it automatically reloads for me. but if a soldier is outright humping the locker, i can see where sometimes the medic isn't healing any damage and it takes longer.

There is a slight flaw in your logic however. They ONLY receive health on every fourth shot - notably their LAST shot before they reload. Most soldiers will be fairly low on life when that one hits, and if they are experienced at helping to build ubers, they don't even pause - they just fire again, because they know they have been reloaded.

I have found that if the soldier runs away from the locker and back into it while doing this, he will refill his life - thats why it's important that he stay directly against the locker while building the uber.

I think the second most effective Uber building I have ever witnessed was with the soldier (I already know what l3eeron is gonna think here, but BEAR WITH ME HERE!) rocket jumping WAY up in the air - reloading while in the air. He will be at around ~190 health when he hits the ground, which takes off another chunk of life, and then he rocket jumps again. I think the big difference though, is that the soldier I saw doing this (Might have been noodle? but I forget now) was jumping straight up and down each time. He wasn't really going any where crazy. Hence, my healing beam never left him because he was always *just* within range of it.

Maybe it's something else worth running tests on! ^_^

I kinda of brushed on this in my previous post, but I hadn't read this one yet itchy.

If you stand RIGHT in the locker, and don't stray from it, you only get health when it reloads you too.
