Re: Batman's New Rig -
I replaced my stock cooler with one of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835118223
It is very quiet, it cools very well, and it even has a light on it in case some parts get lost in the middle of the night.

i saw a lot of recomendations for the one stevo posted. i love the one i got. jsut got done playing dod:s for 2.5 hours and my cpu is at about 36 C right now. only problem is its ginormous

with 2 of these on it

currently i'm only set at 103% perfoamance increase but with that and 2 other 120mm case fans i may try to inch it up

Question (looking for more info than "get a new cooler")
All installed - all good to go - BioShock is installed and I am loving it.
Only ting though -
I have the E6750 Duo2 2.66, and the stock fan that came with it - doesn't always spin - is this normal? And it only run just under 1,000 RPMS - seems really slow and sketchy for a CPU cooler....
Input - is this normal for this stock cooler? I have always had better ones out of the box / or pimped my rig out with a schwag cooler that you can control it's speed.

That's defiantly not normal. Are you sure the fan is stopped? Fan's can look stopped when they are moving fast. Could you put your hand over it when you think its stopped and feel if its moving?
If it is stopped, I would defiantly replace it ASAP, in the meantime, see if you can get a 80 or 120mm fan blowing directly on it, or you have the chance of frying your CPU.
If it's dead, intel will replace it, because all after market CPU coolers do void your warranty, FYI. But if you do want a better cooler... I would recommend one of these as they are great for overclocking, or if you just want a very cool CPU.

Those two heatsinks are huge, so you might want to check if they fit in your case before ordering.

36 C would be your idle temperature as almost exactly after you close the CPU intensive program (DODS) You CPU cools down immediately. Try running your Temperature monitoring program while playing DODS to get a more accurate reading.i saw a lot of recomendations for the one stevo posted. i love the one i got. jsut got done playing dod:s for 2.5 hours and my cpu is at about 36 C right now. only problem is its ginormous

Re: Batman's New Rig -
Well, it stops and starts depending on the CPU load.
My temp is 41-ish C at idle, about 45-46 with some load, and about 56 with TF2, Moh Airborne, or Bioshock...so I am still safe (and the fan starts to spin when the temp is 50+).
Just trying to figure how much room I have to put a cooler........

Hmm...
Those temps are a little high, but I think it's probably a motherboard or CPU application thats on a Quiet over Cool setting.
Did your motherboard come with a program? If so, look if there is any options for fans. And you could probably set it to run at 100% all the time.
I think the program speedfan can override the fan settings.

Re: Batman's New Rig -
uyeah, I loaded the Easy Tune 5 program that allowed me to set mins and max temp vs fan speeds.....I am usually not a fan of the stuff that comes with your mobo - but, it works better now.
The temps were out of order, so temp in the box is 46, but CPU temp is 18 C.
We are good. Got the fan cranking now - still super quiet box.
I will mess around more with it, just want to be on the safe side right now, get it solid, then I am going to crank the 2.66 to 3.0-3.2 Ghz. Just get a little more
Thanks guys.
/edit: BioShock and MoH Airborne are pretty.
CPU temp is 18C with the stock fan? That sounds low, what does the BIOS say?
At least it's working fine now, enjoy your new setup!
heheheh yeah, 18 and coming uot of Moh Airborne - 24 C.
I went into the BIOS - and the box temp is 40+, CPU temp is 18 or so.
WOOT!!!!
Over-clocking here I come.
