Re: TFC memories
I think I started playing on TheVille shortly after it became TheVille.
It would be interesting to know when it became known simply as "TheVille" instead Turkeyburgerville, Avantiville etc. I think it was around the time the site and forums were put up. (early 2001?)
JD, Carter or Rob could probably give you a fairly accurate history of The Ville.
There's no doubt, as The Ville STEAM community page states, The Ville is one of the oldest and longest continuously run gaming communities.
EDIT: Let me also say that I think the 3S's have done a fantastic job with it!

One more thing:
I don't know if anyone has kept count, but I'm pretty sure The Ville is larger now than it has ever been.

Re: TFC memories
I remember starting off as engy because I couldnt aim (so I let my SG do it for me). I remember kthulu and the cykos as admins (I think) when I was playing. I also remember low-grav turkeyburgers got me my name. I was incontinent wombat at first (I thought it was randomly witty). I later went on to be a decent sniper. I even finished 2nd in a sniping competition (after spanish warpig). When the run up to FF and tf2 were upon us I went back to tfc and got my solly and engy skills up to snuff, and even pyro, which was the first class I ever selected when I first connected to a tfc server. FF made me love pyro again (stack all 3 burns, recieve delicious scream from opponent), but the short range of the flamer in tf2 turned me off...
Now I can't aim anymore, so I use melee weapons...
Long live the crowbar scout.

edit: spelling

I remember you as Clay Pigeon in the Turkeyburger days. For those who don't get it, there were two opposing book shelves (imagine being toy-sized in a room ala Toy Story) which low-gravity was always on. Clay would leap from one to the other which made him a favorite among snipers. PULL!!!
I remember the incontinent wombat nick too. Why? Because who could forget a name like that.

I remember when Robert E. Lee asked me to be an admin way back then. He said I was the 1st after the originals from turkeyburgerville. I think I lived on avantiville after that day haha.

Please forgive my ignorance.
Wow! I honestly don't think I ever visited the Avantiville page. But that's got some Ville history! The first DoD test server and the introduction of NeoTF!
You're up early, Silver. Wanna play some TF2?

Re: TFC memories
Ahhh! and who could forget OneBigHoax, Ktulu, CycoMom/Dad, BadaBing, KRG, OmegaInitiative, WhyBKul...
I think I became an Admin in '00. I hosted the TFC NeoTF servers and Grudge Server where it also ran the conc maps!
But The Ville is more than just gaming. It's the COMMUNITY stupid!!
Over the years, TheVille has seen me through job changes, g/fs, engagements, marriage, relocation (from the Pacific Coast to the Atlantic Coast, and now Dallas!), babies, and kids! We've lost good gaming friends (RIP, Blue, Trigger) and we've seen 9-yr old Admins given the opportunity of responsibility and mature into teens. It has woven itself into a small but deep part of my life.
TheVille is like a familiar rest stop in all our journeys in life. There a familiar crowd always gathers, nursing our beers, Tim Hortons, and gaming mouse, while old friends pass through in the glow of recognizance and long-time-no-sees.
They say a true display of someone's character is to simply play a game with them.
I think you villuns are alright in my book.

Good stuff, munkey. I imagine those sentiments are true for a whole lot of people.
