I didn't realize anyone lived in Huntsville with me. Despite the thousands of people working at the arsenal I never meet anyone worth talking to. Perhaps now I will mention TF2 once in a while.

Looks like we're still missing a history of =USV= from the initial post. Any possibility a long-time =USV=er could write something for spam to add in?spm97 wrote:The second "Official" guild was =USV=. <Insert USV history here>

In the begining there was one ville guild, then =USV= was created and shenanigans ensuedblack_and_blue wrote:Looks like we're still missing a history of =USV= from the initial post. A couple old time USVers were consulted for history of USV. Not sure why it isn't in here unless they left it up to the clans to post it themselves. If you are curious, I'm sure Optik, JD, or Dukenukem could fill you in some. I do know that Hoaxie was one of the first three founders of USV and there were two others, sorry senior moment, but I can't remember their names at this moment. There is a ton of history that I am forgetting right now.

Re: The History of "The Ville"
Update: Hoaxie, Blue Ruler, and Roofcutter were the original USV founders and made up the leadership called WE3 for USV. I have more history to add and was fortunate enough to catch Cobra to prompt some more history. I will share more as I have it to share for USV. Just want to check some facts first and get the okay from members before I post more. Thanks for asking about us USVers. It's great to not go unforgotten. We are a fun bunch but can be a bit quite sometimes. I'll see what I can pull together to represent us.

Re: The History of "The Ville"
It's been a long time, but if I remember correctly TVB was fragmenting between people who wanted to play competitively and those who wanted to play solely for fun. TVB was never originally interested in competitive play, but with "rival" clans like PWG, BR, njk, and 2i who did play competitively (njk and 2i to a much greater extent), it just didn't stay that way. It lost it's original spirit of being a relaxed, friendly, and fun guild. There was lots of drama and the for fun players were standoffish with the league players. USV was an effort to rekindle that vibe that made the Ville so popular to begin with. Again if I remember correctly USV stands for United Societies Ville, which kind of illustrates what was going on at the time. Evidently they got it rightLooks like we're still missing a history of =USV= from the initial post. Any possibility a long-time =USV=er could write something for spam to add in?

It's good to see the Ville is still going. I might have to watch out for a TFC night

Hi KRG! Man it really blows me away that we were playing TFC on Ville servers over a decade ago and now the Ville community is still going with some of the same peeps. Reading this thread really brought back some memories.

Re: The History of "The Ville"
I just did some major digging for cup information.
The only mention I can find of the first tournament (it wasn't even called The Ville Cup) is a couple of posts from Sept 2001, but he talks about a forum that doesn't look like it exists in the archives (does anyone have access to hidden forum areas?) unfortunately:
http://www.thevilluns.org/2002-2006/viewtopic.php?t=418
http://thevilluns.org/2002-2006/viewtop ... tournament
Then I went to the internet way back machine and found a bunch of stuff about another 2nd tournament (August 2002) that appears to have been dubbed "The Ville League"
