Refurbished?
Have you ever bought a refurbished laptop? would you recommend for or against them? Any experiences whatsoever?

I've bought refurbished desktops, and I would truly avoid getting anything refurbished.
The desktops collect dust, and I made my father learn a valuable lesson. Stop being cheap and just buy new to avoid any future problems.

Kahlan!!!
I only buy off lease or open boxed PCs from Dell, in Canada Dell has a site and I usually check the open boxed PCs and Laptops for great deals compared to buying the same thing new.
The open boxed stuff carries the original warranty and the gear always has arrived looking like new, it didnt matter if it was a desktop or a laptop.
The open box stuff tends to be either things sent to customers for evaluation, or equipment customers returned within 30 days cause they didnt like it.....
I cant speak for any other company, or even for Dell in the US but many of my friends and coworkers as well as I have had great luck getting open boxed gear from Dell.
Cheers.

Re: Refurbished?
Well in comparing the higher "quality" /lesser used open box models, I found a deal at a big box store that made it irresistible to pass up
So I bought a brand new one, and in fact am writing on it.
Sadly, it has vista... But I think it is outshining my desktop.. then again my desktop is about 5 years old

dell has an "outlet" part of their website where u can buy refurbished or cancelled orders. Sometimes they have really good deals.

I play all my games, edit audio and video, chat, internet all on my XPS1710. I need a RAM upgrade though, i got it with 1024. I need the deuce or even the quad.

I dunno what the issue is with Vista really. Everything works on my laptop just as good, but I won't be plugging my iPod to it because I really don't feel like adding iTunes onto the laptop.

I bought a refurb PowerBook from apple and it locked up every time it warmed up - after about 15 minutes. I sent it back to them, they had it for 3 weeks, got it back, same thing. Sent it back again and said keep it, I want my money back. They said no dice and were total a-holes about it. You would've thought I asked the support lady for her first born or something because she bit my head off. They replaced the logic board and it was fine after that but it ticked me off. I sold it on ebay. Never again. lol
I dont like iTunes.
