My Pokemon White friend code:
Ruris
3783 - 2948 - 2634
I don't have any EV trained Pokemon on that file yet, so don't expect me to put up much of a fight (unless yours are also not EV-trained)

"Ah, you know how it is. Doin' a lot of side projects, some consulting, maybe a little freelance... Those are words that people say when they haven't actually been doing anything, right?"

I haven't touched 5th gen yet, the whole thing was starting to get too confusing, but if anyone's in the same boat as I, I have a very powerful collection of 4th gen players above 70. I have a box on my SoulSilver version with at least 15 battle-ready critters that i've never really gotten a chance to use against other players and probably wouldn't mind finally getting to field test the crew. Also my level 100 shiny Crobat will be there, my vanity Pokemon, but he does put up a good fight.
I got a good lineup I can pick from. Some of my better 4th gen fighters:
Crobat
Empolean
Infernape
Gallade
Weavile
Porygon-Z
Pikachu (yes, Pikachu)
Lucario
Golem
Ferraligator
Leafeon
Flareon
There's more, can't think of everything at the moment.
I've also got an event Jirachi from Summer 2010, its in a Cherish Ball, has Serene Grace, and knows Draco Meteor.
I wish it was possible to import 2nd gen Pokemon to the newer versions, I had a level 72 Furret on my original Silver version that could single-handedly take down Red with nothing but Headbutt.

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

Re: Pokemon
I'll try to remember this topic if I ever boot up my Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold files on my 3DS. I'll post my Friend Codes then.

Re: Pokemon
I have an EV-trained team on HeartGold that I haven't touched in forever...sadly my sister has the DS (it's technically hers) and I can't remember what my friend code is.
I'd love to battle some pokes with you guys though, I'll get back to you on that.

Re: Pokemon
I wanted to post this earlier, but I didn't want to double post.
Battle Simulators. All the fun of battling without having to actually train up a team. (Though you don't normally get the awesome battle music and animations)
The most current simulator (which incorporates Generation 5) is Pokemon Online.
Anyone wish to join me in a simulator battle some time?

Re: Pokemon
I don't recall ever doing EV training on my teams. They were just a bunch of mons I caught in the wild and trained (save for Pikachu, had to breed him specifically to make him learn Volt Tackle). I do remember training them while they were influenced by Pokerus, so if that means anything, I think that doubles EV values or something. Not acctually knowing what EVs are or anything, I was under the impression that Pokerus training was just "increased stat gain on level up"

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.

I would love to, seeing as how that is currently my only optionSuper Steveio wrote:I wanted to post this earlier, but I didn't want to double post.

I've used battle simulators mostly to plan out teams and try them out against other guys, when I finally got the team I wanted I trained them up in HeartGold, which took forever, and then I realized I didn't know anybody to play with on the DS, so I just kept playing on the simulators, welp.

Re: Pokemon
EVs work like this:
Each Pokemon (wild or caught) gives a certain amount of EVs in certain stats. Any Pokemon that gains EXP from defeating the Pokemon gains full EVs from it (meaning that, while EXP may be halved between 2 Pokemon, each one that gets EXP gains the full, say, 2 EVs if the defeated Pokemon gives 2).
The Pokerus doubles EV gain through battle permanently (no effect on Vitamins)
The Macho Brace item doubles EV gain as long as it is equipped, and stacks with the Pokerus (no effect on Vitamins)
The Power Weight, Bracer, Belt, Lens, Band and Anklet items give 4 EVs to a specific stat in addition to the EVs gained from defeating the Pokemon. (HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed, respectively). The effect of the items is increased if you have the Pokerus (but again, no effect on Vitamins)
The different Vitamins give 10 EVs to a specific stat until the stat has 100 or more EVs in it, at which point the Pokemon cannot take more vitamins of that type.
HP Up = HP
Protein = Attack
Iron = Defense
Calcium = Special Attack
Zinc = Special Defense
Carbos = Speed
A Pokemon can only have 510 EVs in total, with a max of 255 in a single stat. However, EVs only give stats in multiples of four, so most players "max" a stat with 252 EVs.
If you somehow screw up your EV spread in-game, there's six types of berries that reduce EVs. They reduce EVs to 100 if you have more than that in the stat, and each subsequent one will remove 10 from the stat (Meaning you need at most 11 to go from max EVs to 0 EVs)
Pomeg = HP
Kelpsy = Attack
Qualot = Defense
Hondew = Special Attack
Grepa = Special Defense
Tamato = Speed

oh yes, pokerus is awesome, I have a box full of infected pokemon to give, if anyone wants it, though like I said, you'll have to wait until I grab the DS back from my sister.

Does that simulator allow you to select your moveset/stats? I'd like to recreate my 4th gen team with to see what it could do.
