The Binding of Issac
This game came out today. It's $5, it's awesome, I highly recommend it. http://store.steampowered.com/app/113200/
This game was developed by one of the members of Team Meat, who was responsible for the excellent Super Meat Boy. Issac is a rogue like, Zelda-esque game with some absurd dark humor to go with it. There's tons of items to find and each game is randomly generated so you won't have the same map twice.
Again, for $5 this is great fun and a bargain.

Not to mention that it's on sale until october 5th. You can get the game and the soundtrack for 5.30 or get the full game for less than $5.
I just beat my first playthrough on the 14th try! Now to go unlock other stuff!
Oh yeah. Unlocks? Tons. It's a roguelike too, so just remember that the game functions as a perpetual iron man run. No deaths or bust!
Or if you're absurg, go for a no-damage run!

Re: The Binding of Issac
I should bump this since I can't seem to stop playing this game.
I just finished the game for the seventh time, I really, really want to see what happens at 10. Has anyone gotten there yet?

That's...an interesting thing. Makes the game much harder I'm sure.

The game is now available in the new Humble Indie Bundle (provided you pay more than the current average, so the sooner the cheaper!).
There is a bunch of new content, I haven't had time to give it a go, but now's a great time to pick it up!

So, I got the game with the new humble bundle.... and I cant say I see how difficult people say it is... I know I havent killed mom yet, in her second form or whatever, but I did finish the first part on my third try. Got to caverns 2 on my first try... failed miserably the second time though.

The Basement is easy, the Caves are a little challenging, the Depths are tough at first but you'll get better at it, the womb is very hard and I assume Sheol is a beast but I haven't had time to play yet.

That was a really tough fight. I had 10.5 hearts + 1 temp heart going into it.

Cool. It turns out the game does not store your stuff on the Cloud, so I've hard to start over completely while on my trip. I just finished my 9th Mom kill so I think it's runthrough after next that I can get to Sheol.
Also, Cain is the best character, amirite?

Re: The Binding of Issac
Cain is easily the best. The Lucky Foot and Speed/Damage boost you get at the start well make up for the two hearts you start with. Issac does get a significant boost after beating Mom for the 10th time, but not enough of one to be better than Cain.
Judas isn't bad either starting with the Book of Belial and the highest base damage out of any character, but one heart makes him hard to play. Best choice for a no damage run though.
Eve is an interesting character and I've yet to finish a run with her... Her entire character is about taking damage, but starting with 2 hearts and having the lowest damage of any character make her difficult to use.
Maggy frustrates me... Great survivability with 4 hearts and a Yum Heart to start, but that slow speed is painful. Most of my runs with Maggy end up being long and drawn out which makes them more annoying to die on.
And after beating Mom the 10th time...
