Does round robin, any deck, and best of 3 work for everyone?

So per this format, lets say Bronze Fox and I duel. I beat him 2-1(of course) and that gives me 1 point. Points are added and total points at the end of the first round robin round determine which bracket you go into and as matches go on, if you keep advancing.

Right now we have 12 players, so at the end of Round 1, 6 players go into bracket A, and six 6 into bracket B. I was thinking the top 3 advance and round robin, then the top 2 square off to see who wins A and who wins B. The A and B winners would then square off. See below:

If we do it this way, everyone plays 11 games in round 1 and then 5 games in round 2. 3 from bracket A and 3 from bracket B then advance to play 3 games. 4 players then play 1 game and finally 2 players play 1.

This means you would play any where from 16 games to possibly 21 games....maybe this is too much? So we have some options. I'll throw this up as a poll.

Any way we do it is fine by me, though I do think that best of three against each person is a good idea. There are too many ways (mainly lack of mana at the start) in magic to get just horrible draws or whatever and lose without even really playing at all.

I was thinking about that. Let's start today. Just start contacting people participating in the tournament and keep track of your win-lose record. Post your results when you get done; if you don't get a chance to play everyone, just post what you have by next Sunday.

I'll create a steam group to help facilitate finding your victims/opponents.

Ok invites sent to the Tournament group. The group is there for you to easily see who is involved in the tournament, even if they are not on your friends list.

If you don't get to everyone this week, no worries, as no one is knocked out until next week.

Next week will have fewer players in your pool and wins will determine who advances at that point.

For the final score that determines who goes into what bracket, just keep count of whether you won overall or lost overall vs a player.

Eg, Hatchet beat me 2-1, so our scores afterwards are 1-0 and 0-1.

How many opponents you beat, NOT the number of matches won determine scores/advancement.

So, sometimes MTG will not let people play together for some reason. Not sure why, but it seems like no matter what is tried, two people just cannot connect.

They can try playing again another night, of course, but heres my suggestion if noting at all works: another volunteer joins in for a 3 player free for all match, but then just sits there doing nothing at all (other than play land, since it wont let you not). That way, hopefully both players will be able to connect to the third party

Hopefully it wont come to that though, and we'll all eventually be able to connect to eac other.

Well lets see, I played Mateo who beat me 2 - 0, I played Jesus Faction who beat me 2 - 1, I need to find someone incompetent so I can at least rack up one victory. (and no, I cant play against myself)

Bronze Fox is known for his incompetence. Just turn off your speakers so you can't hear the soft whimpering noises after the game.
