Re: Crashing Issues
The TF2 wiki mentions TF2 and Garry's Mod being the afflicted games here, likely a crash related to something within the source engine itself, as all of today's updates were Source Dedicated Server fixes. Hell, CS:S got a bigger update than TF2 (58MB on CS vs 9MB on TF2)

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.

Re: Crashing Issues
I can load hl2, but other source games I've tried freeze up with a black screen before the initial load process completes.

Re: Crashing Issues
Actually they accomplished this sometime last year, when certain community-made maps (tr_walkway in particular) were unable to be loaded because the game was precaching so many hat models that attempting to load the map resulted in a "TOO MANY MODELS TO LOAD" error.Peahats wrote:they finally managed to add too many hats, I didn't think it was possible.

Knowing Valve, this ought to be fixed by day's end.

I believe it even affected at least 1 official map...

Re: Crashing Issues
I want to say Thunder Mountain, as that's the only map outside of training with extra character models. However, models such as props may be included. The patch that fixed that issue (The issue was introduced with Mann-conomy in September 2010, but was fixed December 21, 2010) only reports that it affected community maps, which could likely refer to official-communitiy maps, such as Junction.
This however, would narrow the issue to a selection of possible maps:
Turbine
Coldfront
Fastlane
Freight
Yukon
Egypt
Junction
Steel (I'm pretty sure Steel was the affected map, I almost remember it crashing TV1 every time Steel came up)
Hoodoo
Offblast
Ravine
Watchtower
Harvest (both versions)

Re: Crashing Issues
I don't think anyone checked Junction while the problem existed. Nobody cared enough.Gizanked wrote:was it junction?

Kidding, kidding...
Seriously though, prop-spammy as Junction is, I don't think it was the one, given how tiny it is (not enough room to contain enough props to crash the game). Steel sounds right in my memory, though I also seem to recall something making Thunder Mountain unplayable shortly after it was added. Maybe both were broken?

Re: Crashing Issues
Don't know what it is, but every time I'm on the WarPath server, my PC will lockup. I can play on other servers for hours with no issues. Tonight (and the last 2 weeks or so), the lockup boots half the players from the server. I know its not my PC, as I get back on the server and others were also booted were back.
Any idea what is causing this?
