Diablo 3
Diablo 3
I checked a few pages back and didn’t see any thread so I’m making a new one.
So I have been looking into some of the details surrounding Diablo 3 and I feel the overpowering need to hypothesize about the release date amongst other things. Check this out: http://www.d3sanc.com/diablo-3/diablo-3 ... ugust-2nd/
The basic idea is that there is some press conference on July 27th the content of which will be under NDA for all of 5 days. Conspiracy experts are guessing that August 2nd could be the start of the public beta. If the D3 public beta is anything like the SC2 public beta it is quite possible to see a D3 release in December 2011.
I know this is very optimistic but I’m already salivating for this game.
If you haven’t seen the video on the new rune system I highly suggest you go watch that immediately. The videos should be on Blizzard’s main D3 website. They have one for every class for a single skill for each. Basically they will be applied to skills now instead of gear. In other words, every skill for every class can be customized with runes.
Some other bits of info I have picked up: They are including a region-wide auction house system similar to WoW for items/trading. Some legendary items will be craft-able as will entire sets of gear. The max character level is 60 which you “shouldn’t” need to grind to achieve. They are toying with a daily quest/craft/boss run system for the end-game (as the alternative is just running bosses over and over). All passive skills are now traits and all skills are only active abilities.
Oh and there will be 18 tiers of armor instead of the 5 in Diablo 2 - http://www.gameranx.com/updates/id/2171 ... varieties/
Please add anything. I cannot get enough information!
Oh and I’m making a Demon Hunter.

I'm excited as well, and really hope that Blizzard won't disappoint me, like they did with Starcraft 2.
Re: Diablo 3

That was a pretty fun game, never really got over the inability to interrupt your own actions though, made it feel less responsive.Paddyjack wrote:I'm playing Titan Quest: IT almost daily just waiting for this game

Re: Diablo 3
From the last two blizzcons I've been disappointed with the D3 development.
Re: Diablo 3
Sorry BigBiker but could you try to be more vague?BigBiker05 wrote:From the last two blizzcons I've been disappointed with the D3 development.

Negativity from Biker is like the sun rising; it's just to be expected. Unless, of course, you are talking about catapults.
The point being, just ignore Biker and his negative comments.

Re: Diablo 3
I'll try and make a detailed post some time tonight. I think I posted that on my cell at work. In short, me and a lot of players I was grouped with/hanging out with (different people at different times) felt that from the developers in QandA/panels and from playing the controlled demo areas that the game was only being created to keep the franchise going. (I know, still very vague, I promise I will make a detailed post, I'll also go back and watch some panels to sort my facts. I'm often vague to prevent myself from messing up facts)
Re: Diablo 3
it's been a month biker... where is that detailed post?

Re: Diablo 3
Kotaku also had like 3-4 stories on D3 up earlier today.
Big news:
Always-online DRM (Boo! Hiss!)
No Single Player (Boo!)
No modding (Boo!)
skills are automatically gained, player selection is in what skills to use (limited number of active/passive skill slots available) *interesting*
Blizzard operated Auction House, will allow people to sell in-game items for real money (If you shell out for an up-front listing fee, no fee for normal non-real currency listings)
5 rune options per skill change how the skill operates
Several tools to make getting loot easier/faster with no more frequent trips to town (inventory item that turns items into gold, inventory item that turns items into crafting components)
Also looks like aside from sending invites to friends, all multiplayer games will be run through Blizzard's match-making system. (Not sure if I like this or not)

Re: Diablo 3
D3 has moved from a must buy to a maybe buy if I get around to it at this point. The always online thing coupled with real world money transactions just kinda tanked my anticipation for the game.

Well, to be fair on the real money auction house thing:frostdillicus wrote:D3 has moved from a must buy to a maybe buy if I get around to it at this point. The always online thing coupled with real world money transactions just kinda tanked my anticipation for the game.
there will be an in-game currency only auction house
hardcore characters will not be able to access real-world auctions
Blizzard has admitted this is partially to monetize Diablo III and provide for funding after initial purchase
Diablo II had plenty of people spending real money on in-game items, now it's official and scam-resistant.
