Re: #PotatoFoolsDay ARG
The potato countdown is homing in almost precisely on 1 AM Eastern / 10 PM Pacific. At a rate of 11.8 per second (the number I was told it's been calculated at), the math at 7:01pm eastern yield 5.99 hours remaining.

Mine downloaded one, which totaled exactly 0 bytes according to Steam.TheCarpe wrote:My Portal 2 just quietly downloaded some 102.7 MB update...

I'm glad the release is before midnight tonight. If Meat Boy or Killing Floor finishes, we should be seeing some huge boosts. 9 PM maybe...?
Re: #PotatoFoolsDay ARG
KF and Super meat boy are done now.

Portal 2 will release in an hour now, less if people can finish up Amnesia and/or Defense Grid

The whole thing is a lie, we got like 40 minutes from some games but killing floor only gave 4 minutes or something.
Re: #PotatoFoolsDay ARG
Steam forums were pretty upset about the whole thingBigBiker05 wrote:The whole thing is a lie, we got like 40 minutes from some games but killing floor only gave 4 minutes or something.

People who got all 36 potatoes get the Valve Complete Pack as a prize.
It's cool and all, but I already own 95% of the pack

Nope, the time removed from the countdown is just a percentage to an extent I imagine.Plinko wrote:I'd say the community got rickrolled here.

Wow... That is kinda cool, but also kinda harsh. I know some people on the steam forums were upset about the TF2 pin and stuff, and something small like that I think is kind of a nice little thing for people buying the pack, and not a huge deal to miss out on for those who didnt want to buy the pack. This is a completely different story though. Not only is that a lot of games, but some people (myself included) actually worked hard to get a bunch of potatoes (27 for me).... But we get nothing because we didnt get them all. I think that a lot of people will be upset about this one. I wouldn't say that I am really mad or anything, but I have to say that I feel that anyone who got any potatoes should get something if they are going to do that. Maybe have varying prizes for having 36, 27, 18, 9, 5 potatoes.
Anyway, it is kind of nifty, but also kind of a letdown too... I do have about halfish, maybe more of those games, but I kind of wish now that I had been able to get all the potatoes.

Wow, that ain't too shabby. I take it you can't gift away the duplicate games though can you?TheCarpe wrote:People who got all 36 potatoes get the Valve Complete Pack as a prize.

Re: #PotatoFoolsDay ARG
We CAN! Us Golden Potato Villuns (I know of Carpe, Buzzy, and I so far) all received an extra giftable copy of Portal 2 as well. If we didn't own the game it went into our library, otherwise the rest went into our gift copies.Flash wrote:Wow, that ain't too shabby. Wow, that is a pretty sweet move by Valve.

Agreed, well worth the effort (for some). I'm sure there are several who are still disappointed over the lack of real HL3/HL2:EP3 news... myself included (It would have been a neat tie-in, though we'll see what the next couple weeks bring).
fear no darkness.
