Looking for an AGP video card

Post by l3eeron » Sat Nov 27, 2010 3:18 pm

Hey guys,

My old man has TF2 and L4D2, but no video card. The PC will not play either game in the lowest settings possible...

Does anyone have an old AGP card laying around that they want to trade for hats/metal n stuff... I can also offer my photoshop talents as payment...

Figured I'd ask here before we went and bought one.

Crap, l3, I just tossed my old AGP card maybe three weeks ago when cleaning out the closet, been sitting on it for three years and decided no one was ever going to want it! :P

If you upgrade him to a PCI-E mobo I'm going to have a spare old 9600 GTS shortly. . .

2 gig ram
Tiny On-board video card

Can that Pentium even play TF2? TBH, I think you are better off spending $200 on a computer and then $50 on a video card.

This is actually my old computer...

It ran TF2 and DoDS just fine on min settings with a decent card in it.

A pentium III? Has to be tualatin at 1.2GHz. But PIII's are much older than 5 years. 5 years ago would be near the tail end of the netburst (p4) era.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it may be best to just build a new lower-end system.

The minimum or low in the below image should be sufficient for TF2 at lower res. Not sure about l4d2, since all the NPCs will require a fair amount of processing and rendering power. Go with a 5670 to be safe at 1280x960 or 1280x1024. An x2 processor should be fine.

But if you're dead set on an agp card, HIS made a 4670 for AGP mobos. I think newegg still sells it.
