Hm. So if im reading correctly, all 90+ heroes from the WC3 Dota were actual heroes found in WC3 and weren't custom made somehow? Just like how Jim Raynor, Kerrigan, Broodlords, etc. are used in the SC2 Dotas?

ok blizzard cannot sue valve because dota was made by a group of people and it was not breaching any copyright. after that, they started riot gaming and created league of legends, but the person behind dota actually left the company, and got a job with valve. the argument was that valve wanted to own it and the people behind lol wanted it to be public access, because they really didnt have a good reason. a little while later they said that valve could copyright it and now they did and are starting to make a game based off of it which i hope will be free.

No one ever said anything about blizzard suing valve or anything like that..
Plus the whole reason they would be "suing" makes no sense.

Well the idea is that anything submitted on battle.net is now property of Blizzard. So is the name 'DOTA'/'Defense of the ancient' Blizzard's property? This is the debate in hand and this is the debate that will go to court. Like unknown said, a large part of the DOTA crew went on to Riot gaming and came up with LoL / League of Legends BECAUSE of this possible issue with the naming rights.

@agro The way it worked would be that you might take a zergling, you gave him the ability with the broodlord shooting broodlings, except it is now firebats, and they expload after 3 seconds into a psionic storm like the high templar casts. Now that is just random but it gives a faint idea.
