The Polycount Contest - Your Favorites
As you may or may not know, the good people over at the Valve have teamed up with the community modelers at the Polycount forums in order to bring us TF2 players some brand spanking new weapons and hats.
The contest itself ends on Monday, and I was wondering what everyone's favorite model packs were.
My personal favorites are The Horticultural Prowess Pack and The Gasman Pack

Re: The Polycount Contest - Your Favorites
I quite like the overall designs of The Airbone Armament's Pack
And I would totally love to have the bear claws this dude has made for Heavy as part of his Big Chief Hibernating Bear Pack. I'd attack with them while quoting Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends: BEAR ARM GO!! GROARRRRRRR!!
I think the Arabian styled knife and headwear this dude has got going on for Sniper is pretty amusing, and actually looks pretty nifty..

The contest is over, but that doesn't mean you still can't play favorites!
This link contains a list of all the completed packs. Which are your favorites?

Re: The Polycount Contest - Your Favorites
Bump!
According to the Polycount website, today is the day that Valve are supposed to announce the winners of the contest!!
I wonder...will the winning content be released into the game today, in an update immediately following the announcement? Or will they be announced, but then shipped at a later date?
Seems kinda soon for another large update, even if it is just a big bunch of community made content...guess we'll wait and see!

Re: The Polycount Contest - Your Favorites
I hope the Polycount Pack is released soon, just so everyone will stop trying to play Engineer.

Unless getting the drops is tied to acheivements or playing that class, I don't see how it would make any significant change to what classes people are playing when there are still new Engie unlocks to get/use.

Good news, everyone!
It turns out Valve Time is real! And that instead of being revealed today, the Polycount winners will be revealed later this week!
...Wait, that's not good news at all!

....but the site is down now. regardless, here's the blog post:
http://www.polycount.com/2010/07/14/the ... ck-winnersAfter our usual delay, we're proud to announce we've finished the utterly impossible task of selecting the winners of the Polycount Contest. These five lucky individuals will soon receive the unbridled adoration of the TF2 community when we release their packs in an update. Unluckily for them, we're also going to attach gameplay attributes (probably of a game destroying nature) to these items, sullying their perfect work with our clumsy attempts at game design. Anyway, enough mucking about, head over and see who won!
Winners:
The Gasman (pyro)
Tank Buster (Soldier)
Special Delivery (Scout)
Croc-o-style (Sniper)
Saharan Spy (Spy)
I am the 1%!
