Why won't my signature work?

Post by black_and_blue » Sat Jul 10, 2010 6:32 pm

So I uploaded a signature image to imageshack and tried to use it in my signature, but it isn't working. Here's what I tried putting into my signature:

[url=http://img208.imageshack.us/i/dummkopfping.jpg/][img]http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/8845 ... pfping.jpg[/img][/url]

The link is valid; the image is there. Yes, I did uncheck all the boxes about "disable BBCode" etc.

Any ideas on how to make it work?

It looks like it is too wide.

Ah, thanks. What's the maximum width?

Well the max height is 200px. Not sure about width. I'm guessing around 500 or 600px.

Why do you have the URL bit in there?

The URL bit comes standard if you use image shack. You just have to delete it. I think its their dumb way of trying to market themselves to unsuspecting forums users.

The width restriction, which is applicable to sigs only, not normal picture posts, is 600 pixels. That banner is 772.

Other than that, make sure that in your User CP options under the signature section, you don't have BBCode disabled. That flag got set for a lot of people when the forums rolled to the new version.

Yup, definitely a width restriction issue. I resized it to width 600, and it works. I tried again with width 601, and it didn't work.

Too bad, it's kind of hard to read at width 600. Oh well.

Thanks all.

There we go, edited it to conform to the width restriction while still being readable. :)
