What is the oldest piece of hardware in your pc?

When I moved two of the tabs broke that hold my heatsink to my cpu. So I cut a piece of sprinkler pipe to wedge between the case window and the heatseat.

Umm I have a old hard drive in it as a 2nd drive its from out of my old HP pavilion and it is about 10 - 11 years old its not hooked up right now but it does work.

every thing else is only a little over 2 years old except the video card which I got last fall.

The floppy drive. I salvaged that from my original computer. Still works.

The rest of the computer ranges from 4-10 years old.

My memory card reader is about 4 years old I think. Newest part is my crap motherboard I got 3 days ago because when I installed my ati 5830 5 days ago it pooped out

Just built a new PC a few months ago, so my oldest piece of hardware inside is probably my video card, Radeon 4670. Externally connected to it, oldest thing would be my LCD, Dell 2005FPW.

My 40 GB samsung backup hard drive. It's from a custom built PC my parents had made years ago, probably 8 - 10. The beast is heavy but its a great backup drive for my laptop!

HDD's seem to be the most common piece in this thread!

I have a Cisco wireless card I had to purchase to connect my PC to the network at UAkron some 7 years ago. Don't actually use it, as I actually prefer to run Cat 5 & Cat 6 under carpet, just have as a lasting memory of the failed Graduate School experiment.

Hmm, if the keyboard and speakers count, then they're both 10+ years old.

The keyboard in particular is a real trooper. It replaced a fancy wireless keyboard, which didn't take kindly to having things spilled on it and died after only a month. So I pulled a dusty spare from the storage closet at work and haven't looked back. Ironically, it's called a Dell QuietKey but it's far and away the LOUDEST, clickiest keyboard I've ever had. Gotta love that.

I've got a Dell QuietKey from August, 2000 still attached to my backup computer. As you said, it isn't quiet, but darned if that thing isn't just about invincible. I love basic standard keyboards!

A Dell keyboard I had since November 2003. And it still works like a charm, despite all the particles and debris under the keys.
