Nvidia has released a new beta driver

Post by Sickmeat » Wed Mar 17, 2010 5:52 am

Quote taken from tweakguids.com:

Nvidia Beta Forceware 197.13
17 March 2010

Nvidia has released the Beta Forceware 197.13 driver for Windows XP, Vista and 7. These drivers are for GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, 300 and ION series cards. Importantly they fix the fan speed issues reported in the 196.75 drivers. These WHQL-candidate drivers are similar to the removed 196.75 drivers in that they provide performance improvements in Crysis: Warhead, HAWX and Left 4 Dead, as well as adding SLI and multi-GPU support for a range of new games including Assassin's Creed II, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Metro 2033, Command & Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight, Mass Effect 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City. They also add Anti-Aliasing support for Mass Effect 2, Ambient Occlusion for several games, and contain various bug fixes. The driver package contains the 9.10.0129 PhysX drivers.

I'll have to try this when I get home. May explain why I had to have my settings on BFBC2 turned down so much to be playable.

I'll wait for you guys to offer some feedback on these. Beta drivers from nVidia scare me.

Just saw a tweet this morning from someone in the Tech Industry (Colleen Kelly from TWIT.TV) who said that she installed the new beta drivers, and they completely screwed up her Windows install. I'd be careful before installing them...

So, these drivers are no longer beta. I recently got a second vid card, so I can do the SLI thing, but these drivers seem to not have the "enable SLI" option in the nvidia control panel.

Does anyone happen to know how to fix that, or know what the most recent drivers are that still have that option?

I have two 9800 GTX+ vid cards. I've looked online about the issue, and it seems to be drivers, but I haven't found a fix yet. It may also be that I don't have the SLI bridge thing, apparently they are supposed to come with the motherboard. I have read that a lot of cards/motherboards don't need the bridge.

the nHancer utility shows SLI setup detected, but not enabled.
