They updated the kill counts today on the soldier/demo pages, the solly still leads by about 240,000 kills but now its out of just under 9 million total kills so now the solly isn't pulling away much but the demo isn't gaining . . .
This is mathematically false. The key is that the death tally difference is expanding at a constant near linear rate. Reversing the damage of the previous day is a demo win of 8%, but there are only so many days in a week, and it's more than 2.
After 3 days of staying at 8%, the demomen need to win the 4 remaining days by 6% a day.
After 4 days the demomen need to win the remaining 3 days by 10.6% a day.
After 5 days the demomen need to win the remaining 2 days by 20% a day.
After 6 days the demomen need to win the last day by 48%.
After 7 days the demomen need some mad propaganda skills.
And this is all to break even.
You're completely and totally wrong here. I don't know why you felt it necessary to be so strong about it.
What I said was the soldiers lead wasn't expanding as fast and it isn't. The demo's totals were 92.8% of the soldier's after one day, 91.8% after 3 days, 92.7% after four and 95.2% after five, so it's clearly NOT growing at a constant rate, the daily kills are closer to even than they were and it does seem likely the demo 'won' Sunday because the gap did narrow but I can't see the numbers anymore to tally them.
However, after 5 days, there seems to be three left, after three days there were 2.985 million kills. Demos would need to net out 225,500 kills or so over the last three days, assuming the same total kills they'd need to win by just 7.5% to take the total - 1.61 million or so to 1.38 million and hold a slight lead at the finish line over that period.
This isn't going to happen because it would require thousands of people to start playing demoman that haven't been, but it's not crazy or anything.

If I'm getting where you're coming from, it's not meant to be abrasive.
I didn't think strong was bad. There's another forum I visit where we often have a more or less assertive "tough love" discussions but in the end we're pretty much a like a family. The Ville is obviously a different atmosphere, so perhaps I should've been more thoughtful about the tone. It's an excuse for the now and not a ticket for the future. I won't intentionally rub people the wrong way.
It would probably help if I previously understood your point in the first place.

He's a decent shot. He's got some skill, but he's in too much of a hurry.
He's throwing away bullets like they were candy. He doesn't know how to take his time.
Aim careful, and look the devil in the eye.

I think you were confused because I posted before the Monday update was posted - reporting new totals on the class pages that had come out earlier without any fanfare.
The kill counts I had were not the ones from last night's update and the entire thrust of my post was about those numbers and my correct observation that the gap was not widening at as much of a rate as it was the first few days, but not narrowing, either.
Anyway, no hard feelings. I just don't care for having my words called patently false when they're not.

We have class stats, but only in sum for the classes:
http://stats.theville.org/hlstats.php?m ... es&game=tf
Demo is 1.37, Solly is 1.30 under the new system.
*EDIT: The mainpage tally is white text on a white field for me. . . I was all confused then I highlighted it and could read the text. . .*
i'm talking like, on your individual stats which classes you kill more and which kill you more. because i'm pretty sure even though its a 1.37 overall its not a 1.37 towards every class. like maybe a 2.0 for some and a .3 for others. ya know?
Man, took me forever to find this again.
You're right, nothing tells you you're ratio against other classes, only your ratio while playing specific classes.
One thing you can do is find your approximate deaths to each class - because you can see how many times you died to each weapon - so if you add up pipes, stickies and bottle deaths, you'll see how many times you died to demos, though you can't know how many demos you've killed (other than the WAR! tally which won't track to the entire stats time).

A watched pot never boils, but constantly refreshing the TF2 blog every minute will show the goods. Right?
