To release it instantly, eh? I haven't thought about it, to be honest. I always just wanted to finish the campaign, THEN worry about learning how to map for another style.
To be honest, I can't think of any situations in which they could be converted to scavenge or, more likely, survival. YET. But just wait! Perhaps a more suitable panic event will crop up in the 3rd or 4th map.

Re: [L4D][alpha-beta] Grave Descent Campaign
It was a long, hard road, and with the release of L4D2, I have decided that it is best for me to put this down and return to home court: TF2 mapping.
That being said, I don't want my sleepless nights at the CUE computer lab during the summer go to waste: if anyone is interested in learning how to map for L4D or wants to take advantage of the geometry I have created, by all means, pry apart these vmfs:

I'm not 100% sure these vmfs will decompress and load properly as it's been ages since I've looked at either of them. If there's any trouble, just give me a call.
