reformat/games

Post by cobra » Sat Mar 24, 2007 9:28 am

I'll be reformatting my hard drive and had a question.

all my games are installed on another partition, but last time i did a fresh install i couldn't play my games. windows couldn't find them back.

my guess is that's because the keys are not in the register.
can i just export single keys out of it and import them after the new install, and will this work? (where would i go looking in the register too find the right ones?)

or does anybody have a better idea?

Yeah, I have the same question. Is it possible to run all my programs on the fresh partition I have now? Without re installing everything?

If you games are on a different partition that the OS you should still be able to run them. Just make a shortcut of the .EXE from the games partition.

That SHOULD work.

if they are on another partition/drive you should be fine after a reformat, so long as you don't touch that drive. However, you will need to put the registry keys in manually.

Since the registry getting all chopped up and crowded with junk is usually the reason for the reformat/reinstall anyway, why not just wipe it all out and start fresh?

Kinda defeats the purpose if you are just gonna load a bunch of stuff right back into the registry after a clean install.

i do not wanna download that all again, i do not wanna install that all again and i do not wanna lose all the progress i made in those games. (games with a career mode or similar)
