9v9 Night Discussion thread
Gravel Pit is more open to 12 vs 12. With 9 vs 9, the action is spread out more and less intense, especially with class limits.
I still say if you're only going to guard one control point on Gravel Pit, you might as well have Dustbowl and skip the middle man. Considering the teams will be more organized and smaller, a 9vs9 Dustbowl match won't end up like a regular Dustbowl game.
The thing is, Dustbowl isn't really popular amongst Villuns (At least, I don't think so). I'm not sure about choosing maps that Villuns don't enjoy playing is a good idea or what.

Dustbowl is mostly disliked because it's filled with chokepoints that Red can camp especially around the 2nd points. Even with a 1 engy limit it would be hard for scouts and the gameplay would become spammy even with only 4 explosive classes on each team for my tastes and many others.
I desperately wish there was a 2 point A/D map that was open enough for everyone like Beamvalley but it would actually work.
Eygpt seemed to be a good alternative at at least at first glance but I haven't played it nearly enough to give an opinion. As for abiscuit's maps, cp_broma might work but I don't know what cp_rosewell is or was.

Re: 9v9 Night Discussion thread
Roswell was on the customs rotation a while ago, I haven't seen it in ages but I remember liking it. Try it on TV2 sometime.
Re: 9v9 Night Discussion thread
We'll have to try Roswell on TV2 sometime to see how it plays but it might work.
From the sounds of things, having 1 5 point map and 1 experimental map seems to be the way to go. I could line up a "maybe if you want" 3rd map every night that we play if the people on the server want to but most nights should probably only have 2 maps.
As the for the whole A/D thing, I'm keeping gravel pit on the preapproved list for now but really next time we probably will have a PL or CTF map or Desertfortress as the experimental map along with another 5 point map, so the whole issue can wait a bit.
I'll keep the bi-weekly vs weekly in the air thou.

Re: 9v9 Night Discussion thread
I'm going to go ahead and cast my vote in for only 2 maps, the reason being that starting at 9 eastern time is already cutting into Friday evening activities, and after the second map the ONU guys will be dropping like flies. Also, after 2 hours of trying to hit Guardian jumping around like a madman while being sniped by Shodan, I'm ready to do something else.

Ok we'll go with 2 maps.
why not start it earlier anyway?
But then Guardian (and other people) might not be able to show up

I remember Total Wars starting at 5PM and people managed to show up for that (Of course, later on, a lot of people were missing, but I blame the holidays for that).
I would say maybe starting the event an hour or a half hour earlier wouldn't be that bad of an idea.

If anything I'll set it one hour earlier.
Maybe...
As for the structure changes.
I think 2 maps fits the bill, I still think we should do it weekly but I'll wait for a bit on the poll and probably having it every 2 weeks will be ok. We could also set the night to start off weekly before events so everyone can get practice if we want.
We'll have 1 5-point map to start the night then we'll move onto an experimental different type of map later in the night.
I'm wondering if having the spectators switch around teammates would be a good idea. So they could do things like make sure Shodan and Agro are always on opposite teams or something.

Total Warz was on a Sunday. People typically have to work on Friday.
Also, I'd suggest Mach4 for the ctf maps list.

I played on the server for about an hour last night, and actually had a really strong and competitive battle. There's nothing quite like holding back a team for twenty minutes at the last point.
I think we should get them to change 24/7 dustbowl. I agree with infy, dustbowl really isn't s very good map, so why do we need a 24/7 server for it.
Maybe because it's our 2nd most popular server?

It's not the best stock map at all. It's just the most popular.
The chokepoint design unbalances the class to class balance. More specifically it's difficult to play scout and somewhat spy and easier to play demo, engy and pyro.
Still I'll add it to the maybe list if you guys REALLY want it.
