The blur effect on LCDs you're describing sounds like ghosting. A quick response time (and a good monitor in general) can solve that on an LCD.
Yeah, that's "ghosting" Mine doesn't do that. :D

I cant remember what monitor I recently purchased for my little sis, but I know its an LCD and that thing is GORGEOUS! I love playing HL2 on that (when I go home) and no ghosting occurs. Its a 19 inch but I think it cost around $400. So for an LCD, spend some cash and get something with a fast response time 4ms and under.

Screen response time (refresh) is what I look for, and fast-responding
LCD's are getting much more affordable these days. CompUSA had
put the ACER AL1916WAsd on sale a few months ago (179) so I snatched
one up. 5ms refresh, DVI, 19"
At 5ms, your not going to see the diff between CRT - LCD, other than the
sharpness. No 'ghosting'.
Now I can't say the same about my PC, I swear at times it is possessed. :shifty:

The prices are affordable now. I was told to pay attention to the refresh rate and aspect ratio when purchasing.

I think you should get one, Beeron. You'll like it.

From a basic approach because i dont pay attention to specs; i pretty much was given an LCD for xmas because the CRT was taking too much of my desk space. However i managed to break the LCD screen in less than a week by getting really angry at something. It basically broke from me throwing a mouse and all it took was a brush to crack the screen. that made me soooo mad i had to buy another one so my father wasn't all like "wtf." for the most part they are getting affordable by the day and i'm a college student. if i can afford one im sure you can too :)

nice choice on the 206BW, I was looking at that a few days ago and the specs look really nice for the price. Plus samsung make it and they make some high quality lcd monitors.
I have had a LCD monitor since they came out! Why?
Coz they don't hurt my eyes.
After a long session of programming, my eyes would be red, watery and painful with a CRT, but the LCD's don't have the same effect at all.

The picture may look better on a CRT, but gimme pain free eyes any day! :D
Bingo, same here. I couldn't do a full day of programming and a couple extra hrs of free time on a CRT. That'd just be painful.

CRT-free since I don't know how long. :D
