I saw Shaolin Soccer the other night, it was a riot. It helps if you've been drinking I think.
This movie is from the creators of Kung-Fu hustle and is just as cheesy. The characters are predictable and the dubbing is only okay, but the zaniness makes up for it. Where else can you see an entire Soccer team beat the crap out of a Goalie with a Soccer ball? Aside from Brazil I mean. I'd give this movie a solid B.

I watched Running Scared about a week ago, and was pleasantly surprised by it. Surprised in that the a Paul Walker movie was actually pretty good. If you want to see two people have the worst night of their lives, this is the movie for you. A word of caution: there are many, many dark elements to this movie.

Saw Nick and nora's Infinite playlist on the weekend with Batman.

It was pretty good (Micheal Cera is worth it if you're into his type of comedy). As far as plot goes, it's pretty cookie cutter.

However great music

A film appropriate for Halloween, but suitable on any occasion:
Image

Set in the 1980's, this action fantasy film follows Jack Burton as he helps his friend Wang Chi search for his kidnapped fiance. Little does he know that his normal trucker's life is about to be detoured to the supernatural underworld of San Francisco's Chinatown.

Starring Kurt Russell as Jack Burton, Dennis Dun as Wang Chi, James Hong as David Lo Pan, Victor Wong as Egg Shen, and Kim Cattrall as Gracie Law. Rated PG-13.

This film has so much to offer: legal action, Chinese black magic, trucking, manly wisdom (via CB radio), gambling, drinking, cleaver vs. bottle action, kidnapping, enduring catch phrases, fighting Tongs, gunfights, Chinese standoffs, martial arts, gratuitous hand gestures (spanning the whole film), lightning bolts, kukri throwing, evil dream vs. tractor trailer, insurance claims, investigative journalism, prostitution, bouncy ball torture, metaphysical salad bar, knockout gas, Chinese history lessons, mesmerism, magic potions, patriotism, monsters, polygamy, interracial marriage, super powers, sword fightin', wizard duels, explosions (of course), and surprise hitchhiking.

Big Trouble in Little China Theatrical Trailer
This film is probably director John Carpenter's second best work, with "They Live" (1988) coming in at third, and "The Thing" (1982) being the obvious first.

What can I say? Two burning blades up!

A Christmas classic from yesteryear:
Image
New York police officer John McClane has been invited out to the west coast to spend some time with his estranged wife. Little does he know that a mistaken invitation to an office party will thrust him into the role of one man army, pitted against ruthless Euro-terrorists. Now McClane has to use all his skill, experience, resourcefulness, and courage to save his wife, rescue the hostages, and find out what these cunning, heavily armed, criminals are really up to.

Starring a truly international, cameo ensemble featuring Bruce Willis as John McCLane, Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber, Bonnie Bedelia as Holly Gennaro McClane, Reginald VelJohnson as Sgt. Al Powell, Alexander Godunov as Karl, Hart Bochner as (the incomparable) Harry Ellis, Clarence Gilyard Jr. as Theo, William Atherton as Richard Thornburg, James Shigeta as Joseph Yoshinobu Takagi, Paul Gleason as Deputy Police Chief Dwayne T. Robinson, and a special cameo appearance by Robert Davi as Special Agent Big Johnson.
Die Hard Theatrical Trailer
A film with strong moral underpinnings of good versus evil, the sanctity of marriage, and the importance of family during the holiday season. A solid action film that will renew your faith in the spirit of Christmas. I give it two Agent Johnsons up!

What can one say but "HAAAAAANNS!!!!!"

A delightful fairy tale of fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, miracles, and true love.

Unlike most love stories, which can be filled with slobbering sentimentality, this film has adventure and satirical comedy mixed in with the kissin' parts, making for family friendly entertainment. It' also chock-full with one-liners that are still quoted to this day. A few fun facts:
IMDB wrote:
  • When Count Rugen hits Westley over the head, Cary Elwes told Christopher Guest to go ahead and hit him for real. Guest hit him hard enough to shut down production for a day while Elwes went to the hospital.

The "six-fingered man", Count Rugen (who has a total of 11 fingers counting his right hand), was played by Christopher Guest, who played Nigel Tufnel, in director Rob Reiner's This Is Spinal Tap (1984). Tufnel was famous for having an amplifier that goes up to "11".

The video baseball game the Grandson in playing during the first scene is "Hardball" produced by Accolade, Inc., in 1985. It was widely available in the mid-1980s for the Commodore 64 computer system. It was a one or two-player game. The sound was not from the actual game, but later added.

Most of the movie was filmed on location in England. The castle used for the film dated back to 1065 and had original tapestries on the walls.

During the filming of some scenes, the weather became markedly cold for Robin Wright. André the Giant helped her by placing one of his hands over her head; his hands were so large that one would entirely cover the top of her head, keeping her warm.

Director Rob Reiner was the voice of the R.O.U.S.s.

The two rival kingdoms in the movie are Florin and Guilder. These are the names of two former Dutch currencies, the Florijn and Gulden.

The fencing masters that Inigo and Westley talk about studying are all real fencing masters from the 14th to 16th centuries (although the styles of fighting they are using have little to do with what those masters actually taught).

While never stated in the movie, according to the screenplay the grandson and grandfather live in the Chicago suburb Evanston, Illinois. This explains the Chicago Cubs pennant on the wall and the Walter Payton Chicago Bears jersey worn by the grandson.
Starring Cary Elwes as Westley, Mandy Patinkin as Inigo Montoya, Chris Sarandon as Prince Humperdinck, Christopher Guest as Count Rugen, Wallace Shawn as Vizzini, André the Giant as Fezzik, Fred Savage as The Grandson, Robin Wright as The Princess Bride, Peter Falk as The Grandfather, Peter Cook as The Impressive Clergyman, Mel Smith as The Albino, Carol Kane as Valerie, and Billy Crystal as Miracle Max.

The Princess Bride Theatrical Trailer
What if someone didn't enjoy this tale, you might ask? There's no need to ponder that question for it would be absolutely, totally, and in all other ways, inconceivable!

Rated PG.

The International:

Saw this the other day, with Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. Very good film, it was very nicely done, a lot of shots that you would expect, but the writing was good and I never really felt bored with the movie, always something going on, and the short bits of "dialogue only" helped expand he story, also the ending is pretty neat :)

just saw 9 a few days ago

if you loved\liked the original 10 minute movie, you will love it.

If you haven't seen it, it will be cool, but merely ok.

It was super true to the original film, and the story was great. It was short tho, something I was expecting but the others who went with me disliked. like super short.
