Win98 to 2000 Server

Post by regis » Thu Feb 22, 2007 7:40 pm

I used to love Win98, it was on my first machine. I had a MS-DOS (Goldstar, lol) one before it, but this one was all my own. I now had to fidn a Windows98 disc so I could format a harddrive and upgrade to 2k Server.

I guess it was my own fault since I burned the 2k disc wrong, wrote as data instead of an image :?
I started this thing about 2 hours ago (6:30p EST) and now (at 8:30p EST) it's only at 70%

This is why I hate old...... legacy technology. I attempted putting Server 2003, but the hardware definately wasn't up to snuff, kept constantly crashing just after booting to the desktop.

Now that I think of it, I do have a question!!! My fellow Villuns, would anyone know of an inexpensive but decent brand/model of KVM?? I'd prefer to spend much less than $100.00 USD on it. It really only needs to switch between 2 systems.

I came across an old one of mine that has a ps2 keyboard slot and a serial mouse port, but no ps2 or usb mouse available. I could send it to you, if you have a serial mouse.

Other than that I generally only use large kvm's for server rooms, but I see people using belkin stuff all the time for 2 machines. A search at best buy led me to this... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 1384674619 That is a ps2 model, they had a USB but it is sold out. Somewhere else might have it though.

PS2 KVMs are cheap as chips! Check Tigerdirect.com or Egghead, I am sure you can find one for less than $20 for a 2 port KVM.

More ports or USB requirements will jump up the price but 2 port PS2 kvms are dirt cheap.
