Hm, this sounds like a good place to land my plane of ideals. :D

Let's talk Dark Knight!

Pros: Intensely well-built characters, gripping thrill-based events that build like increasingly difficult Jenga towers, dark humor
Cons: Christian Bale sounding like he's gargling a blender, rare but still cheesy lines, ripoff ending

For those who don't know, this is the sequal to Batman Begins which is the series' attempt to revive itself after its dismal failure hereby referred to as Batman and Robin. Because of Batman and Robin, the entire franchise had to be started from scratch and Batman Begins started it off hard and fast not unlike being thrown into a racecar and being told going under 55 will cause the gas tank to explode. Needless to say, I enjoyed it and apparently others did as well which thrust it into a best-seller status. Dark Knight follows the tradition of the newborn Batman series in giving us a dark atmosphere and blending it with nostalgia to the point of making the most masculine of us squeel like schoolgirls at the sight of a blue-faced Two-Face (refer to Animated Series if you aren't familiar).

It's set a time after the events of Batman Begins where the dark knight (no pun intended) is now a feared and revered force of nature in Gotham. However, with our protagonist comes two things out of the blue; first is the ultimate foil, the Joker. This Joker is insane. This isn't a joke; he is legitimately crazy. Every time he's on the screen, there is more often than not an uncomfortable background violin being strangled on one note, which truly adds to how disturbing it is. He is also a master of dark humor and human manipulation making him a frighteningly dangerous and funny character. Just watch for the pencil trick and you'll see my point, fellow dark-humor-enthusiests. Next is good-ol-boy Harvey Dent. Batman fans don't need any more explanation for Dent since they know what happens. On a sidenote, the effects done later in the movie for Two-Face are amazing.

My only gripes (and that isn't saying a lot) is that Christian Bale still sounds rediculous when trying to be Batman. It's suitable at times and I can't imagine him just using his regular voice for someone like Batman of all people, but he reminds me of Nathan Explosion from Metalokalypse. Not only that, but the ending felt like a bit of a fizz than the bang it should have been. Most of the buildup exploded bigtime about four minutes before the movie ended. However, it worked out rather well in the end.

All in all, if you don't see this movie, you're a communist. Okay, maybe that's a stretch, but I'd say you MUST see this movie if you can. It's rare for a comic book movie to be this groundbreaking (well, Iron Man was pretty awesome, I'll concede to that). Don't miss out!

Also, the dark humor reminded me of Portal. And I love Portal.

Cake plz.

According to Media by Numbers The Dark Knight climbed to 7th place on the all-time domestic blockbuster list on Tuesday, surpassing the first Spider-Man movie to become the biggest comic book movie of all-time in North America.

The Christopher Nolan-directed Batman Begins follow-up added $5.67 million on Tuesday to bring its massive total to $405.7 million after just 19 days. Spider-Man reached $403.7 million domestically during its entire run in 2002.

Batman’s next target is Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, which sits at #6 with $423.3 million.[flash width=450 height=450]http://www.youtube.com/v/cDxgNjMTPIs&hl=en&fs=1[/flash]
4th week
According to ComingSoon.net The Dark Knight has battled Pineapple Express and come out on top, making this the 4th week The Dark Knight has held the number 1 spot in the US.

Despite two more wide releases having entered theaters on Wednesday, The Dark Knight topped the box office for a fourth straight weekend, adding an estimated $26 million for a massive domestic total of $441.5 million. If the estimate holds, then the Christopher Nolan-directed film has surpassed Shrek 2 ($441.226 million) to climb to the third spot on the all-time domestic blockbuster list, trailing just Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope ($460.998 million) and Titanic ($600.788 million). Warner Bros. Pictures said it expects “Dark Knight” to end up with about $520 million domestically. The movie cost $185 million to make.

Time for another Darkxide review! 8D 3rd Mummy movie review GO.

Pros: Connects the dots suitably, imaginative special effects, humorous mummy anguish
Cons: Full of so much cheese you feel baked into a pizza, one-dimensional characters, predictable plot points

Let me state off the bat that I haven't seen the Mummy movies all the way through. I've seen bits and pieces, so this is strictly an outside-of-series opinion. I know the basics anyways: it centers around a smug one-liner spewing archeologist and his hot wife as they stop the undead from taking over the world for two straight movies. Yes, for two movies they fight he same mummy.

Anyways, they decide to bring in a newcomer this time. Who, you ask? JET LI, AKA The Dragon King, AKA the most badass mummy you'll ever meet. Naturally he learns the elements and is uncompromisingly powerful. However, he realizes that he's still vulnerable to that tricky matter known as "dying." So he decides to try and get a witch to help get him some sweet digs as an immortal emporer. Instead, she bones his first-in-command and turns him and his entire army into statues. Kinda got ripped off, but he did threaten and kill her sex interest, so maybe it balances out.

Anyways, the plot is thrown out the window as everyone decides on a whim, "Hey, let's go to CHINA now!" The son of the archeologists finds the tombs, the parents are mildly impressed and the kid develops Anakin Skywalker syndrome, the mummy predictably gets revived, and of course hell breaks loose.

Personally I enjoyed this as a good action movie. However, it's hard to feel any thrill since it was too predictable. Honestly; the heroes already killed one movie twice. All that this one has is the Chinese language and kung-fu. Ooo the suspense.

Although I will give credit where credit is due: THERE ARE YETI IN THIS FILM. There is no punchline here. YETI are summoned to fight the Mummy.

My biggest problem is that everything has been done before. It's essentially Duke Nukem for a family. Cheesy one liners, eye candy, predictable plot points, the works. Although on a sidenote, this has got to be the funniest movie when it comes to abusing the dead. They can be suddenly dragged somewhere by a supernatural force, only to get stopped mysteriously. Thus, they get up and continue whatever they were doing as if they just lost memory of the entire event that happened two seconds ago.

Overall, I'd say this is a passable movie. Catch it if you want, but don't embalm yourself over it if you miss it.

Saw The Darjeeling Limited last night. Thought it was a great flick! Obviously you have to be a fan of some dry humor because it is a wes anderson movie. Overall a good movie though.
