Post by mujo » Sat Aug 23, 2008 8:35 am

I want to back up my user settings for my steam games, what file do I need to backup? I'm planning on reformatting soon and I would like to keep my settings :)

Go to:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\STEAMACCNAME\team fortress 2\tf\cfg

And find config.cfg

That file holds all of your binds and settings.

You can also just save your entire Steam folder to DVD (or in my case, about 15 DVDs)

Ya, I would just back up the the whole cfg folder here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\STEAMACCNAME\team fortress 2\tf\cfg

and back up the maps folder too, here:

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\STEAMACCNAME\team fortress 2\tf\maps

and screenshots if you have any precious images there :D

new feature valve announced a few months back. basically configs and save games will be saved to you account on the steam servers so you dont ever have o worry about backing them up or having to replay everything if you log your account on another pc
