Heat Sink and Fan Problems

Post by Rigges » Sun Aug 17, 2008 9:36 pm

Hey ya all

Well I guess some might wonder why I all of a sudden vanish from the middle of the heat of battle with out saying good nite or what ever

I currently have a Gladiator Liquid Cooler heat sink on my AMD 64 2x 5000 Black CPU.
[albumimg]510[/albumimg] [albumimg]511[/albumimg]

Its been working great up until a few ago and the coolant pump quit working. So in game it heats up and the Mother board then shuts it down to prevent damage. Hence I Vanish from the face of the Game and from the Internet for 15 min or more.

I currently have ordered a new heat sink and fan unit called the Butter Fly from tiger it gets here Wed then Ill send the Gladiator in for repairs and keep it on stand by.
[albumimg]512[/albumimg] [albumimg]513[/albumimg]

So I will be back at gaming by wed Night

Oh man, BTF90, thats what I use on my E8400. It's amazing. Almost silent, and cools extremely well for the volume. Think I get around 45-50 C under load, but its hard to tell because my 8400 has slightly broken temp sensors as it was the first run.

And Gizanked, that heatsink is gigantihuge. Dual 120s mounted horizontally and not in push-pull is going to haunt my dreams. I can't even imagine cramming that thing into my tiny little midtower.

I do like the Silverstone fans though, used to use them for my two casefans, moved down to something that was quieter with the recent revision on my computer though. Didn't need the cooling power given how cool everything runs anymore.

I have trouble sleeping w/o the sound of case fans. True story.

This is an example of what my heatsink looks like with a fan mounted to it (not my system in the picture though).

Nice heatsink, I've been using a Zalman 9700 w/out issues....I'm just glad you didn't decide to go back to the stock heatsink.

lets see well with the black edition there is no stock heat sink & fan as it is an over clocking unit and AMD doesn't provide a heat sink for black editions.

also the gladiator puts for size all of these to shame it is huge and barely fits in the case let me see if I have a pic it will get posted here --> [albumimg]514[/albumimg]

AMD includes stock heatsinks with their new Black Editions.

I just didn't know that their early Athlon x2 lines didn't have them sorry. Also what GPU is that? It looks a lot like a 7600GT/8600GT that I've got around here somewhere.

Hmmmm I see that by adding a heat sink and fan has jacked the price up considerably.

Would much rather buy with out fan and pick a heat sink fan unit to go with it.

My thought it would save money and you would not have a cheap junk heat sink and fan sitting around.
