9000 series cards
I am currently running a 7600GT on my desktop at home. Would a 9600GT give any noticeable improvements, or should I go for a 8800GTS since the 2nd number is larger?

an 8800 GT or GTS 512 is more expensive and will give better performance than the 9600, but the 9600 will still give a noticable difference.

Yea, im shooting for not paying a lot. I am just toying with the idea right now, don't even know if my computer can handle a dx10 card (also, can i play dx9 format games on a dx10 card? I'd imagine so, but not sure).
p.s. Blah, do you like troll the tech forums waiting for people to post?

lol i just got off dod:s, its was coincidence
And yes you can play dx9 on a dx10 card.... otherwise you couldnt use 8000 series GPUs on XP. If i was you, ill get a 9600GT since your not gunna play alot on it.

Yea, I mean, I play like TF2 and BioShock calibre games, might get Hellgate:London at one point maybe and the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R game coming out this year. I don't know if my other hardware is compatible with that card and with dx10 though, I'll have to figure it out.
(installing it is pretty much plug and play right?)
