building a computer for a friend

Well now that the b3 phenoms are out, I am going to be assembling a computer for a friend.

Budget: 1000 dollars
parts wanted: spider platform using phenom 9850 + amd-chipped mobo+3870

I really dont know what motherboard to use, and I still need to do the rest of my build.

tl;dr: I want to build a rig for 1000 dollars around a phenom 9850 and a ati3870

I leave that for you to decide My advice the Antec 900.... that would put you over budget by $50

could i get a link to that wishlist? Also, I would still like a recommendation on a case that isnt LED-errific, as this computer is going in a bedroom.

edit: looking for a cheaper 3870 atm too, as getting a cheaper 3870 will let me hopefully get a case and be w/in budget.

edit: also that asus mobo has tons of negative reviews.

ps: the user I am building for is NOT a power user, and won't ever be crossfiring, and likely wont be using raid, and definitely does not need wifi. Maybe I should go with a 780 board instead? Something with a nice award bios...

edit 2: asked around a bit, and I've been told to avoid the current generation of asus boards for AMD. Gigabyte was recommended.

edit 3: I believe b3 phenoms support ddr2 1066. Should I go with that?

Ummm... Yeah that mobo is a bit overkill. Gigabyte or ASUS both would be nice choices. Both are great boards. But I always take newegg reviews with a huge grain of salt. If you want reviews check some reputable hardware sites for them.

Honestly the difference between DDR2 1066 vs DDR2 800 is negligible. No REAL performance difference in applications used day to day, unless you get off from your benchmark score. I would go for DDR2 800 especially if you are on a tight budget and it's not for a power user

I checked with anandtech and a lot of 780g motherboards only have 3 or 4 phase pwm, and can't handle the load that a 9850be will place on them. http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3279&p=2

I went ahead and checked the asus wifi board out and it has had a tremendous number of very poor reviews from just the last few weeks.

Guys, I don't know what to do.
