Being youngish, I must say that beer is not my favorite. Let me explain: Most beer available to me in high-school/college settings was Bud Light/Miller Light/Keystone Light/Craptacular Light/etc...

I like good beers. I like a pint of Guiness when I can get it on tap.

As for other beers, I really only like things that MicroBreweries do. There is a beer called FatTire that is very very good.

Also, the New Glarus Brewing Company which is Wisconsin only, has fantastic beers, my favorite being either "Naked" or "Spotted Cow". "Fat Squirrel" is not bad either.

I tend to always try local drinks when I go abroad and usually get microbrews when I can because I know they care about what they do and the quality is often better.

But for commercial beers, Sam Adams has a lot of decent flavors, and I do enjoy a Leinenkugel every now and again.

I'm a classy guy though, so if I go to the bars, mostly what I get are Tom Collins', SoCo Limes, or Mojitos :-p

Yea SU, give Fat Tire a try. It just got "released" in Iowa City and was a pretty big deal, its good on tap, but if you get it cold, its nice from the big bottle too ;)

Beer is about the only alcohol I can stand. And I like it lots.

Just had a Stella Artois, which is quite good if overpriced here in N.A.

Alexander Keith's is my favourite cheap Canadian beer. Though I can't say I'm a fan of any of them.

The local Granville Island brewery makes some good stuff, including their Pale Ale and the Winter Ale they put out at xmas time.

When I went to Vegas I got to try Sierra Nevada, and that was realllly good. Wish I could find it up here in Vancouver.
I used to love drinking Corona, Dos XX, and Negro Modelo when I lived in El Paso and the border was a hop away.
Ooo, Negra Modelo is good! Corona is nice now and again, but it barely qualifies as beer IMO.

naming one favorite beer is next to impossible, so in no particular order of preference here are some faves...

Guinness - simply put, you're either a fan or you're not.
Smithwicks - cant really explain why, but if you ever see it, its def worth trying(pref. on tap)
Boddingtons
Murphy's
Beamish - probably one of the most under-rated beers out there.
Shiner Dark Lager (if you've ever heard of Shiner and not had this one, go get it!)
Shiner Hefeweizen - im a fan of wheat beers, this is my fave
anything Unibroue - tasty 'bout sums it up
Kona Longboard Lager - smooth & flavorful
Fat Tire - has a good bite
Corona - great beer for warm weather or at the beach

there are plenty more, but basically i'll drink pretty much anything not american domestic...

Rye is actually just a plant closely related to barley & wheat...and typically used as an alternative to each.

and yes, in alcohol form its usually made into whiskey, but can also be made into vodka. If you check out a liqueur store, depending on the size you can probably find at least one label to take a look at.

Lot of Guinness and Irish ale drinkers out there! *cheers :drinking: :drink1:

When I lived in Durango, CO, used to love the Ska Brewing company. Some of you western villuns might be able to obtain this. Very good beer and ales!

I liked Fat Tire, but there were other microbrews I thought were better.

Durango CO? dude, thats like the prettiest area of Colorado! Every time we travel out west, we always stay at the KOA campgrounds there by the river, gorgeous country man.

Nanners, a guy from work recommends Great Lakes beer, i'll have to try it now.

I think I will. There's a drive through two doors down from me that sells Great Lakes. My buddy has been itching for me to try it. Think I may pick up a 6 pack tonight

OK CP, that's a little weird...

Although the occasional Southern Comfort with like 7-Up happens around here. I guess you mean something like that.

Used to go for the MGD's, Tamale, back in the day when I was younger. Now, I have like... a couple a week, so I'm always looking for different stuff to try, hence the thread!

Lots of good suggestions, need to get rid of these Steinlagers... which will take waaaay too long now.

BOO nanners! I went to my local area drive thru, and they only had Dortmunder Gold. It's good, but your irish Ale sounds better :)
