Re: 8800 GTX
graphics cards have gotten so good (and cheap for that matter) that ur wasting money for those super high of the end cars, i think ill save 300+ dollars, use my bfg 7900 gs and play with a few less fps and no trilinerwhatever it is, and thats only on the newest games out. until games like crysis and whatnot come out u cant take advantage of them anyways

Re: 8800 GTX
I have it and run it. The reason I got it is very simple: I wanted something that could power all the games I own on a large widescreen lcd, with max graphics quality Antistropic at 4-8x and Anti Aliasing 16x, it changes the look and feel of any game. And running at 150-300 fps in source is quite nice. I found out the the HL1 engine maxes out at 992fps lol.
Also, I wanted DX 10 for everything that is coming out.
Did I mention I will SLI this set up in about 3 months

Re: 8800 GTX
Well im running a Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 and it plays source fine.
28-42 fps
However lowered all the standards on the vid quality.
But still im playing source on a $80 Gfx card.

You guys need to upgrade I thinks...
my box didn't cost too much (about 800-900)
AMD64 3200+ (2.0 ghz)
1 gig ram
250 gig HDD
DVD super drive
MSI mobo with onboard 7.1 and gigabit lan
EN7600GT 256mb
Running on 2 20'' CRTs maxed out at 3200x1200 res (1600x1200 on both essentially)
And yes I can play most games at that resolution...I play DoD:S at that res
and there's some footage on youtube of me playing Doom 3 on it...
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGLiYL7t7-I
Only slowed down due to fraps.

I currently have, as you all know
AMD 4800+ X2
3GB of RAM(soon to be 4GB)
2x 160GB Sata drives (no RAID)
1x 250GB Sata Drive
2x X1800XT (total of 1GB of Video RAM)
plus my G15 keyboard and G5 mouse with my Bose Triport AE Headphones.... i run it all on a 17" monitor and quite frankly i dont plan on upgrading anything soon, if i upgrade at all its my Monitor, but otherwise, i will always run ATI with AMD. I get 60-100FPS on source and thats with every setting i can find set to run for quality..... so if u think about it, i coudl run everything for performance and get what 90-150 fps.... i prefer quality. oh and btw, to anyone building a new system, get the x1950XT it runs freking GDDR4 hehehe

Re: 8800 GTX
I just upgraded to one, and I am in awe... It outperforms 2 X1950's.
I went for an all out swap and got a N680i MB as well. I will sli them one day but right now running everything in 1920x1200 with zero problems. I have to get HL2 and DOD:s back on so I can play again. Haven't had to much time to play anything lately.
Well...let's see...I owned an X1600 Pro for a week..and...other than half life2...the frame rate was crap...
hate to ruin the party, but I just got an X1600 Pro and everything works great on it. No problems with HL2 Source runs almost flawlessly, Flight Sim X run almost as smooth as I have ever seen it, not to mention games like Sid Meier's Railroads and Caesar 4 run dang near perfectly. I think that even for a $150 card it's the best for what I need, but I do have to say there is always a place in my heart for NVIDIAs

Ok, maybe I'm confused, how does it outperform 2 1950's??

Also my 1950's are not XTX. The issue for me was resolution. If I got rid of my 24" monitor and went back to 19" then maybe it would be better.
