Issues Refining Oil

So I'm trying to make some fuel for my rockets. I first tried pumping oil into a buildcraft refinery, but my buildcraft pump wasnt pumping any oil. So i filled a tank by hand and tried refining it, but my refinery wouldn't work. I then switched over to a Galacticraft refinery, and now it wont fill up wit oil either. Would anyone have any ideas why they aren't working? I am using buildcraft pipes and powering the refinery with a RE cell and Conduits.

Were you using waterproof pipes? Did you have a good enough power source for the refinery?

My typical setup is BC Pump with 2 Redstone Engines > Waterproof Pipe > Tank > Wooden Waterproof Pipe w/ Redstone Engine > Waterproof Pipe > BC Refinery powered by (new style) Steam Engines or better > Wooden Waterproof Pipe w/ Redstone Engine > Waterproof Pipe > Tank.

jagger if I just passed by your set-up, that's not oil, that's sludge.... oil won't give you debuffs if you touch it.
