Re: Enchantment? Enchantment!
Is it sad that the first thing that comes to my mind when I see that image isn't anything to do with the damage, or the safety of the people on board, but rather is just "What the heck is a UP locomotive doing pulling a passenger train?"
Stupid locomotive leasing program - messing with my head.

Hey, i'm not the one who posted the MLP video, that was Marf, and in all of my posts except for the last one, I still contributed to the main conversation.THE Flying chihuahua wrote:

This is hard to be cool and suave while being informative at the same time. Goddamn my coolness.
In my experience, common sense isn't too common.

Lets let the derail die and get back to the main topic, now that Betteh's got a good screenshot. Again, I didn't start it, as Marf acctually cited MLP (not just the video) in his original arguement about how magic is supposed to work. I didn't start it, but I'd like to end it.
Hmmm, looks like unless it's gibberish, there might be a language to decipher in which you may acctually know what you're getting after all. I can't make heads or tails of it though, I was never any good at cyphers or hieroglyphics.

Re: Enchantment? Enchantment!
I actually remember something about magic in Minecraft.
They said it would only enchant Wood, Gold and I believe Diamond tools.

Apparently its "Standard Galactic Alphabet" from the game Commander Keen (best game ever?), according to responses on his twitter and his acknowledgement.

Re: Enchantment? Enchantment!
Well darn it, I just finished doing a frequency distribution on the letters, building my tables and charts, to do a manual decrypt. Darn borrowed code!
I had already ruled out the possibility (my fear) that it was in Swedish, and concluded that it was an English cypher. It shares frequency traits with German and Dutch as well, particularly in the extreme presence of "E," but that's partly a result of the small sample. There'd be no reason to expect those languages to show up, and the number of symbols was inconsistent with those languages as well.
Having done that, I'd already identified a few letters and was starting to transcribe when I refreshed this page and saw that it was already done. Curses!

Suprised he didn't just take the Pokemon route and use Braille for codes. I always found that somewhat funny that 3rd/4th gen Pokemon had Braille puzzles.

Wow. All I did was check Reddit half an hour after he tweeted that image. They already had it figured out 10 minutes after the tweet. I'm not even a Reddit user, I just figured they'd have the answer.Alizée Fan wrote:Well darn it, I just finished doing a frequency distribution on the letters, building my tables and charts, to do a manual decrypt. Yeah, all it takes is one person to recognize the cypher used, and it's instantly broken. Probably not too hard to find a gamer somewhere in the Minecraftverse that knows that one :-) Sadly, I'm not one of them, so I dove in on the assumption/hope that they made up their own. :-P

I always assume someone out there is smarter than I and has already figured it out.Alizée Fan wrote:Yeah, all it takes is one person to recognize the cypher used, and it's instantly broken. Take for instance Valve's insanse puzzles (Most recently the potato-themed Portal 2 game)Marf wrote:I always assume someone out there is smarter than I and has already figured it out.Alizée Fan wrote:Yeah, all it takes is one person to recognize the cypher used, and it's instantly broken.
