Indeed Sadly, with snow biomes apparently out, any of us looking for snow are going to be up a creek til 1.9. Any word why that was done? I didn't even realize it had been until somebody posted Jeb_'s tweet about it.

That was me that posted the tweet. Apparently when they changed the biome code snow "disappeared". Jeb didn't really give a reason beyond that.

Ahaha, yes.
If you did mount rushmore however, sadly a lot of that detail would be lost. I've only been there once up close and oh boy there's a bunch of detail there when its right in your face.

Indeed it would be - faces are crazy hard to do. The Mount Rushmore faces are 18 meters high, which is great for real life, but impossible to emulate well in Minecraft. As you said, a lot of detail would be lost.

Yar, glad you found that info. I would have been awfully confused after a while, once I went searching for snow!

I had an idea for a structure to build. The Parthenon.

The Parthenon is a beautiful structure and would be fun to build, though a lot of the original important parts, like the (presently removed) marble carvings around the top, wouldn't be replicable in MC scale. None the less, a very cool and doable project, at 70 meters long, 31 meters wide, and just 14 meters tall. The only challenge in the two month time frame is that, like the capitol, it would have to be all wool (1.8 lacking snow). A good option! If you decide to build it, I'll be stoked to check it out.
