Update problems

So i've been trying to get the new pyro update, and farm my guts out. But, for some reason its stuck at 23%

it's spent the last hour or two saying "Checking for steam game updates" and not changing

I ended up deleting clientregistry.blob or something like that. Which, brings us to now. It stuck at 23%. Any ideas?

Steam was down for a while there.
Try exiting Steam and restarting it.

I've done that over 15 times -_-


edit: I just did it again, and it is now saying scanning for steam games updates again X_X

I tried just clearing TF2 but it didn't work X_X

Crazy things to think about:

Bad hard drive sector. (defrag and try again)

Disk space limitation (your partition is full or something)

Write protection problem (somehow one of your tf2 files is write protected, and it just hangs trying to update it)

Spy sapping my update!

I'm outta ideas after that.

I had all sorts of problems wher a game update was stuck at 97%. Tried deleting blob, restart steam, restart computer, verifying game cache, etc.

Ended up just uninstall/reinstall steam.

thats at least 2 to 3 gigs worth of downloads wasted.

Yeah i re-installed steam too X_X

So far it's downloading

and that makes me a happy panda

Does it let you play? Last night, it let me play with the update and when I first logged in, it got stuck at 48%. Second time around (I left my PC on while I watched the end of Aeon Flux), I went back and it said the update was at 92%, but it let me play fine. Two hours later, when I got off, it was at 98% and then finished installing. Dunno why it worked, but try to play and see if the update is not for other games or other non critical applications using Steam.
