Post by thrasher » Sun Apr 20, 2008 11:14 pm

I was wondering if anyone can help me install a second hard drive to my computer. I am not sure how to do it myself

I have one question for you though, can u take a picture of your motherboard and the back side of your HDD, the side that looks like you might plug sumthin into.... i can make one real easy and tailored to you if ya do.

Ok, you see your ribbon cable? it is attached to your current HDD and your cd/dvd drive correct? You should have a second connection(black instead of blue or vice versa) next to where that ribbon cable is on the motherboard. Use another ribbon cable a plug it in there(there is only one way it can go in) and the plug it into your new HDD which you will slide in right below or above your current HDD. Screw it in with the provided screws. Simple as that.

edit: there is also a third slot that looks like the two parallel ones used for IDE, that one is smaller and is used for floppy, my guess is its already occuppied.

edit2: You have a Dell don't you?
