Haha...I dropped all the stuff when I was in school. Staring at lines of code all day drove me nuts. So...I have no advice to get you motivated.

C# pays my bills, so the paycheck is always a great motivator. Not that that's of any help in uni.

Try finding a few good rutbreakers. Something simple to do for a few minutes to recharge your brain. Mine is having a guitar next to my desk. Playing for a few minutes always clears a mental logjam. Browsing the Ville forums helps, too!

Just fire up what code you have already plus the problem and we can have a go at it.
C++ is easy unless it's some weird routine needed...

I was formerly a computer science major. I reallized it could do the coding but I did not enjoy it.

Do not pursue a career that does not make you happy. You will spend the majority of the rest of your life regretting it.

Agree with Dog and Clay - we might be able to help with a specific task. However, if you're not finding the desire to do programming, it's a signal you should find a major you're more interested in.

Some detail on why you got into CS and why you're having second thoughts would probably be helpful.

I started college as a CS major. I also hated it as well. I knew its where the money was at but I also knew that my head would explode if I wrote code for a living. So I switched to history...

And yet now that I am out of school I am working with computers...

The grass is always greener on the other side.

Find something you enjoy and are good at doing. I am personally absolutely miserable right now and I'm putting up with it just because a year down the road I have a chance to move into something that suits me better.

I also hated coding while I was in college/uni. However compared to doing tech support for people who don't understand computers, I'd almost rather be by myself doing coding.

It's an important decision since its the degree you are earning, but the thing to keep in mind is that it's a degree. Nothing more. A degree in CS does not mean that you are going to be crunching code for your whole life. All the degree really is is a piece of paper saying you completed some group of courses that a university laid out for you.

Without experience this is all null and void anyways. Have you considered getting an internship dealing with CS to find out if it's something that might truly suit you?

I got a degree in Information Systems and I honestly don't think I'll be doing anything with those anytime soon.

Anyways, just some ramblings from a recent grad.
Shhh...

Quite the ramble there...

I wanted to get into game industry since its still growing, but when i had a look at codin, nuh uh...

With designing, creativity aint a strong side, and neither is graphics..

Testing on the other hand is the jackpot, but they dont need many testers..

meh.

I'll deside before my holidays are over.

thanks for the feedback

in regards to graphic design and 3d modeling, creativity istne verything. If you go on to do 3d modeling and animation, typically you will have someone telling you waht to design and animate. same goes for some graphic design, but not a whole lot.

Im in my 2nd semester in college right now, and going for petroleum engineering and i think im gunna like it alot, btu i have yet to find out. Luckily Colorado School of Mines offers a intro to the course though so i will find out :P Otherwise I will either go EE or Mechanical Engineering though so that is yet to be determined.

Don't be afraid to change your major
