Need new cooling now.

Post by MrBlah » Fri May 28, 2010 5:49 pm

So, it is quite prevalent now that I need to replace the cooling system in my computer.

I have two options of course.

1) Get a heat sink and play the game that way.

2) Get a new pump and in all likelihood a new water block.

Now, in most cases, I would actually just get a heatsink. However, this summer here in Denver is looking to be a hot one, and I won't be running AC very often in my house.

So, fellow villuns, what is your input?

I mean, you designed the system around the water cooling, no? If you have the money to replace it, then do it.

If not, get a heatsink, and reduce the overclocking as needed to have the system remain stable.

Normally I'd say get a heatsink but I'm very upset Blah. This here Denver weather caused my Corsair HX1000W PSU to blow today (luckily EVGA makes excellent motherboards and gpu's and none of them went with it, not to mention Corsair PSU's are excellent as well). I say get a new pump, I didn't think the weather would get this warm when I accepted to go to the University here.

lawl...

In Colorado you can get 63 consecutive days of snow cover or 63 consecutive days of 90F+ weather. It's freaking awesome.

But yeah, I am thinking more and more that I will get a new pump. I may wait on the new water block, but it will have to happen.

when the outside air is at 35C, its pretty hard/near impossible to get an aircooler to go below that.

It's 12C outside right now and my coolermaster 212 idles at 25C, that's pretty solid.

If you've already got the knowledge and the tubing and rad in place, just get a new pump.

Well, I ordered the Swiftech MCP655 pump. Hopefully it gets here before Friday.

Here's a link

Will be interesting though, as my current reservoir doesn't exactly fit this pump without a bit of modification. We shall see how it goes.
