Strange Lag in TF2

Lately I've been getting "lag spikes" at random times which sometimes "slingshot" me a inch on the map at random times when I'm connected to any server. I've verified the integrity of the TF2 folder and checked for programs in the backround screwing me up but I can't figure out why Tf2 isn't working smoothly.\

Edit: My ping seems to be fluctuating up and down.

I was playing on them all tonight and no glitches.

In other word I've figured it's a problem on my end.

It's a Canadian server....it's not working.
I did a tracert through to Chicago and I'm looking at TV1 that has a 300 ping for me....

So it's a problem with Shaw not me?

EDIT: It affects my laptop too so it must be either my internet provider or my modem

EDIT2: Yeah! The Ping spikes are gone! Dog you were right, it was shaw.
