What is the oldest part in your pc?
I used to say my 5.25" floppy drive, but I had to pull it out after mobos stopped supporting dual floppies.

I honestly don't know. All of my stuff is recent, for ym dad doesn't like to build systems with things that are older than 3-4 years.
But i think the "oldest" part in my machine is the mobo.
In my DAD's machine, probably his DVD drive, if you don't count the floppy drive he used to put in before the reason that Clay Pidgeon described came up.
But if it weren't hardware, the oldest part of his computer would be the case itself. It's a near 10 year old server case, typical beige plastic and all. xD

Re: What is the oldest piece of hardware in your pc?
Well, since my last HDD upgrade, I took out the previous oldest piece. Now, the oldest pieces in my computer are as follows:
Basically, my whole computer.
All are over 3 years old based on release date. Still runs like a charm.
nVidia 8800 Ultra
E6700 Core 2 Duo
EVGA 680i SLI Motherboard
1KW Thermaltake PSU
Thermaltake Armor Case and Cooling system
4GB OCZ DDR2-800 RAM
I don't remember when I bought the first WD HDD so I'll leave it out.
The newest crap is my Seagate 750GB HDD.

Hmm...well, I built this computer from the ground up a year or so ago, and replaced most everything in it. I guess the oldest part would have to be my 160 GB secondary HD. After that, most of the rest of the guts are the same age, including PSU, CPU, RAM, Mobo, and case

My current oldest part is my Western Digital WD205AA Hard Disk Drive (~20GByte). It is over 10 years old, and is sitting hooked up to a PCI PATA controller card along with a slightly newer 120GByte drive.
People ask me why I use and recommend WD drives. It is the reason.
My main HDD is ~4.5 years old, as is the case and a fan or two. All the other parts were replaced during my last major upgrade.
That sounds precarious, I assume you have a backup since you called it your "main"? Not everyone needs backups though, I really don't have much irreplaceable stuff on my PC now that I think about it.
