Gotta use the SLI bridge to connect the Pop Tart and the wireless NIC! That'll make the LED fan spin fast enough to generate power for the second CPU :-P

I think what he's trying to do is generate enough heat from the system to *toast* the Pop-Tart. :P

Ok guys, spent a few hours updating this. Changed the processor to a top of the line i5. I decided to go with price jump here. The price to go equally lower and equally higher, higher would be 10x the cost. Somewhat the same with the graphics card.

I have +1 fan there, it's a bit expensive fan but it is identical to the ones the case comes with, the case doesn't come with a side fan. I have two hard drives now, SSD for games and OS then a HD for everything else. I have no DVD drive there, I have two in my current PC and I rarely use either of them, I will take one of those.

I believe everything matches, chipset, ram type, etc. I'm also pretty sure my power supply is plenty big.

If you see anything I should change or doesn't match let me know. I will most likely be buying this afternoon.

Thanks Villuns!

*edit: changed 2550k to 2500k. It was brought to my attention the 2550k has igp disabled and is not worth the money. Searching some forums many clockers are saying the lower voltage won't even make much of a difference overclocking.

Looks like a beast, and I don't see any errors.
One thing to note on that motherboard is to not plug anything into the other video card PCIE 2.0 slot. It reads x16/x8, x8, x4 which I think means that for the first two you can use both at x8 or one at x16, and you want the x16 bandwidth for that video card.

I'm not completely sure about that either. I might have to do a cancel there. The graphics card is 16x, and it looks like I can only do sli with 8x cards. I don't plan to do SLI anytime soon but I'd like to keep the option available.

Look at it this way: computer graphics cards are so powerful compared to console cards, and most games these days are seeing a console release, there's very little point in totally pimping out your graphics unless you want to do a multi-monitor setup.
I'm still playing recent games on the 260mobile card in my laptop, your 570 alone should be good for several years at least.

I plan on doing 3 monitors. So as I'm browsing I don't really see any MoBos with 2 16x slots... nor do I see graphic cards using 8x slots. However, all these MoBos are SLI ready. What the hell goes in an 8x slot?

I'm not going to worry about this, I can't find a MoBo with 2 16x slots for the cpu socket and ram type I already got. It should be a decent enough setup to run 3 monitors. Anyways, I only have 1 monitor right now.

There are a very small number of x16 x16 motherboards, I think Crimson's got one. They cost a bit more though.

I found one that seems to be x16 x16, not sure though as it's hard to understand the pcie 2.0/3.0 entry. Only $270.

For clarification: x16 vs x8 is the amount of bandwidth available to the video card essentially, whereas pcie 2.0 x16 is the form factor of the connector. You can SLI on a x8/x8 bandwidth board, it just might bottleneck your video cards, since they don't have the full x16 bandwidth available each. Most boards are set up with x16 maximum bandwidth, which can be shared between two ports (yielding x8 x8).

The chipset doesn't support 2 slots at full pcie 2.1 x16. In reality, you don't need it. Going from x16 to x8 on pcie 2(.1) gives a negligible (somewhere on the order of 5 percent) performance hit. It will become noticable if you go down to x4 or lower.

I have the Gigabyte version of the 570 and it's done everything I've asked of it in conjunction with my i5, this is the first card I've had no BS with 4+ months in.

If this is your first assembly, be careful, don't force anything.
And make sure to put the motherboard's backplate into the case before the motherboard, it's a pain to do it the other way around. ;)

Help! So I think I ran into a problem. The DVD drive I was planning on putting in isn't SATA. Do they have converters or do I need to go buy a new drive?

Old drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827151155

So I'm seeing $20 for an adapter, or $20 for a decent burner, twice as much at best buy if I were to go buy one in the morning.

FAIL

Update: Found a dvdrw w/ sata in another computer that has sata and ie MoBo. Yaay!!!!
