Computer monitor
As some of you may know, my barely 1 year old computer monitor died recently. I had an ASUS VE248. I'm in the market for a new monitor now, and I'm looking to spend between 150-250 simoleons.
Do any of you have a monitor you'd personally recommend?

Re: Computer monitor
No, I don't need anything special. Having VGA, DVI, and HDMI options are nice, but really all I need is DVI. And I have external speakers, so having them built in does not matter. As examples of monitors I'm considering, check out this and this.OmgOhnoes wrote:Do you need anything specific like an HDMI input, speakers, multiple DVI, etc?

Re: Computer monitor
I'd go with Dell myself. I had special requirements for this last one so i went with ASUS but Dell has never failed me, i still have a Dell 24" from 2003 going strong.

Have you enquired into RMAing it? The warranty on my asus monitor model is three years.

Re: Computer monitor
I recommend Samsung, they make brilliant monitors.
Dell has decent monitors (note: Dell does not make monitors just rebrands them) that you can buy terrific warranties for. I only buy Dell monitors for Work due to the warranties.

I like Samsung as well for both looks and quality.
I purchased a SyncMaster PX2370 over a year ago and have had no issues still looks and works great.

Re: Computer monitor
Samsung monitors are droolerific - love 'em.
In reality, I think there are only something like 3 companies that produce the LCD panels going in to all the different monitor brands out there, so if you're getting a basic TN panel, the differences are limited to the elements of the monitor other than the screens. I've seen respectable performance from off-brands like Sceptre and Hanns-G, which can be just fine, depending on your application. I even had an Acer that was unintentionally an IPS panel (manafacturing error in my favor - woot!).
Samsung's king of the heap as far as I'm concerned, followed by pretty much everybody else.

I've heard good things about that monitor from several sources now, but unfortunately it's outside my price range.sgt stutter wrote:I like Samsung as well for both looks and quality.
