Haha. For me the lower performance is generally worth the convenience of staying in OS X. A good chunk of time that y'all see me online I'm on-call for work and need to have quick access to everything that entails.

And yes, setting up Boot Camp is extremely straight forward. As long as you have enough disk space it should be pretty easy YNWA.

Arfy, if you want to jump in TV2 sometime after making sure everything is unarchived to test it out just let me know. I'd be happy to go in there and rotate through some of the more common maps with you to make sure they load OK.

Well, still getting the CRC error. All that's in my maps folder are the .bsp files for the maps, no .bz2 files. Anyone know why this is still happening?

Downloading them manually has always worked for me in the past. However I did have trouble with Daisy's iMac tonight, still got the CRC error myself.

Maybe try "creating a game" and select that map and see if it will load locally? Not sure if that will tell us anything or not.

I'm not holding my breath. The problem has been around almost since day 1 of OS X support. There are tons of forum posts out there complaining about it. The best advice I can find in searching is the same old manual install you've tried.

Well then, I guess I'll just wait until I have the money to build something. I would keep playing on this computer, except it belongs to my parents which means I can't always use it, particularly in the hours of the day that I would rather be playing something than just browsing the internet casually, and I have no idea how they would feel about me installing windows on it. I'm thinking of just getting Windows 8 consumer preview just so I can use windows.

Did you ever try running the local server with those maps? I understand now about it being your parent's computer, that explains why you can't just wipe it and install Windows only.

Windows 8 Release Preview came out today so make sure you grab it instead of Consumer Preview if you're gonna give it a try. I'm actually still running the Windows 7 Release Candidate as my Boot Camp OS. :D

Boot Camp is pretty straight forward as long as you have enough free drive space and hopefully they won't even notice except for the extra HD icon that will show up on the desktop. Just let us know if you need any help.

I've read guides on bootcamp, I guess I just need to download windows and burn it to a disc so I can install it on there, and I should be able to. That computer has a pretty big hard drive. Would windows have any trouble running at the higher resolution of that display? I just have never heard if windows would support that high of resolution or not before, though I'm guessing it will run at that resolution without a problem.

All operating systems support all resolutions.

The Pyromania Update included this line:
Fixed Macs cancelling http map downloads that take longer than 30 seconds
I'm curious to see if it fixes the issue with TV2.

I'll try it when I'm home and can use a Mac, though I'm going to miss using this PC because I am enjoying it far more than I enjoy mac, also I can have awesome sniper skills because turning mouse acceleration off is easy.
