Getting my microphone working on a new computer

Post by Tarrock » Wed Oct 05, 2011 1:29 am

Got a new computer today(windows 7) and been having trouble trying to get my microphone to work right.

As of right now I kinda got it set up how I want it but with one major problem. The thing is on 100% of the time, so I hear my breathing through my speakers. How can I get this set up so that it'll only work in push to talk situations like ventrillo and games?

Thats a good question, due to the fact I experience the same thing with Vista64
running realtek hd audio manager. But I deal with my headset breathing. But it is annoying at times.

The option you need is most likely accessed by right clicking the audio symbol on the right of your start bar, and selecting either playback devices, or recording devices. I don't know the exact issue you have, but I would start by making sure that in recording devices, when you open the properties for your microphone and hit the listen tab, you don't have "listen to this device" checked. Also, on the general playback devices and recording devices boxes, make sure you only have one input and output selected (green checkmark) at a time.

Thanks Tarrock, Alizee's suggestion worked.
But thank you again.
