Installing old hard drive

Post by M's » Mon Mar 23, 2009 2:35 pm

Before I muck things up I need to pick the brains of our Tech people here.

I just bought a new Dell XPS 625 complete with vista.

My question is how do I install the HD out of my old 2006 model Dell XPS 425 with windows XP into my new system and still access it for info that I could not recover before the old Dell lost its MOBO?

I have already looked at both the systems and both are SATA HD's

Step 1: Plug the old HDD in to the new computer

Step 2: Turn computer on

Step 3: Enter BIOS, and make sure the proper HDD is set as the boot device.

Step 4: Procede with boot

Step 5: Profit
