Re: Mapcycle
i know some of my suggestions here will probably make a few of you immediately turn skyward and erupt like a vomit volcano, but why don't we revisit some older maps for the rotation?
i dunno i'm just throwing these out there, because to be honest, i know i personally don't really like a couple of the maps running on the server at the moment all that much. I was never a big fan of pl_waste (i remember thinking the 5 cp version was better), pl_deplane doesn't really do it for me, and i'm really kind of sick of stovepipe.
these are just MY opinions though and obviously don't speak for everyone else. if everyone else is fine with the rotation as is, that's cool! i'm still gonna play on the server regardless, lol.

Re: Mapcycle
I wouldn't mind cp_waste. It seems like it woudl be a much better CP map than tug of war.

Re: Mapcycle
I would endorse Haarp, Furnace, Rivercrossing, and yeah Glacier (seeing as I suggested it).
Indifferent to the others. Wasn't Zig relly laggy?

Re: Mapcycle
pl_halfacre?
Yes, please.
cp_desertfortress?
Personally, I don't like this map. But it seems to be a popular map, so my vote is "maybe" or "as a seeding map".
cp_boulder?
No thanks. Five bucks says the Wrangler makes point 3-2 even more impossible to cap than it was
cp_bloodstained?
No thanks. The fact that RED and BLU are swapped in their roles means that new players might get confused. Also YM has better maps out there.
cp_fallout?
I'm not a big fan of this map either.
cp_raiden? (there is now a cp_raiden2, which has large list of changes and improvements(?) over the original)
I liked the original Raiden, so if Raiden2 is better, I say 'yes'.
cp_furnace? (is now in rc, which just generally seems better polished and overall better than its previous editions)
Yes to this as well.
cp_waste? (instead of the pl one)
We need more good 5CP maps, so yes.
ctf_haarp?
Possibly. I liked the concept of A/D CTF in TF2.
pl_cashworks?
Nah.
pl_mill?
Nah.
pl_zig?
Heck no.
pl_rivercrossing?
Nope.

Re: Mapcycle
Could we move blazewalk up in the map order while we're at it? Love the map, but most of the time I get there the server's almost dead.

Re: Mapcycle
It seems recently that pl_stovepipe has hurt the numbers; but again, it seems that pretty much anything that's not Toy Fort is hurting the numbers.
Or we really must rely on invite spam to get people in.

I vote no.Super Steveio wrote:cp_waste? (instead of the pl one)

Current server rotation contains:
3 5cp maps (cp_blazewalk_rc5, cp_gullywash_pro, cp_labor)
1 3cp map (cp_toy_fort)
1 4cp map (cp_desertfortress)
1 a/d pl map (pl_dbheights_b5)
1 a/d ctf map (ctf_haarp_test7b)
1 a/d cp map (cp_observatory4)
1 tug-of-war pl map (pl_waste_v2)
I accept that cp maps and those like it are the most popular maps to the TV2 crowd - our current rotation reflects this. 5 of the 9 maps on the rotation are cp maps. However, part of the reason I play on a customs server is to play maps that aren't clones of Valve maps. If we get rid of all the unique maps and replace them with cp maps, we are partly defeating the purpose of having a customs server.
pl_waste is a totally unique map. If we replace it with cp_waste, we're losing a totally unique map just to get another (admittedly good) cp map.
I'm sure there's lots of good 5cp maps out there. If we want more good 5cp maps, let's get more good 5cp maps. But let's not do it in a way that results in us losing good, unique maps.
